Why Your AI Presentation Maker Choice Matters

Almost every presentation tool now has a "generate with AI" button. Type a topic or paste a document, wait a few seconds, and you get a deck with headings, bullet points, images and a layout. The first draft is no longer the hard part. What separates these tools is everything that happens after it.

Some tools give you a full deck that you then edit in their own editor and share as a web link. Others work inside PowerPoint or Google Slides, so the result is a normal slide file your company already knows how to handle. Some are built around brand control and team libraries. Others are general design suites where presentations are one format among hundreds.

The other thing that matters is how the AI is metered. Most of these tools now sell AI usage as credits. A free plan that looks generous can run out after a handful of decks, and a cheap paid plan can cap how many slides you get per prompt. If you plan to generate decks every week, the credit rules matter more than the headline price.

This guide compares six tools across four common jobs:

  • Fast AI-first decks you share as links: Gamma
  • Polished, on-brand business presentations: Beautiful.ai, Pitch
  • AI inside the tools you already use: Plus AI (PowerPoint and Google Slides), Canva
  • Non-linear, zooming presentations: Prezi

A note on Tome

Tome was one of the best-known AI presentation makers, and it often appears on lists like this one. The company discontinued its presentation product and its old site no longer offers it, so we left it out. In its place we added Plus AI, an AI presentation maker that works inside PowerPoint and Google Slides. That covers a real gap: many teams cannot move their decks out of Microsoft or Google, and Plus AI is built for exactly that situation.

How we chose

We are an editorial team comparing published plans, features and trade-offs. We did not run hands-on tests of these tools for this article. For each tool we checked the vendor's own pricing page, product pages and help center in October 2026, and we left out any number we could not confirm there. We looked at:

  • How the AI works: prompt to deck, document to deck, editing existing slides, and how much control you keep.
  • What the free plan really allows: one-time credits versus monthly credits, branding, exports.
  • Where the deck lives: the tool's own format, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a web link.
  • Team features: brand kits, shared templates, analytics, SSO, and how pricing scales with seats.

Gamma Review

Gamma is the tool most people mean when they say "AI presentation maker." You describe what you want, paste notes or import a PDF or PowerPoint file, and Gamma builds a full deck with text, layout and images. You then edit it in Gamma's own editor, which works in flexible "cards" rather than fixed slides, so content can grow without you fighting text boxes.

Gamma is not only for presentations. The same editor creates documents, simple websites, social posts and images, which is useful if the same content needs to show up in more than one format.

Pricing in plain words

Gamma has four individual plans: Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra, plus Business and Enterprise plans for organizations.

  • Free: no credit card needed. New accounts get 400 AI credits once, and they do not refresh. You can create up to 10 slides per prompt, import from PDF and PPTX, and export to PDF, PPTX, PNG and Google Slides.
  • Plus: 1,000 credits per month, up to 100 slides per prompt, removes Gamma branding and adds advanced AI image models.
  • Pro: 4,000 credits per month, premium image models, custom branding, detailed analytics and advanced sharing, up to 10 custom domains and API access.
  • Ultra: 20,000 credits per month, access to Gamma's most advanced text, image and video models, and up to 100 custom domains. Gamma says Ultra is currently sold monthly only.
  • Business: $40 per member per month billed annually, with SSO, 6,000 monthly credits per member, the most advanced image models and an organization-managed workspace.

Gamma's help center says annual plans include the same monthly credits as monthly plans at a 28% discount. Gamma's pricing page loads plan prices dynamically and we could not confirm the current Plus, Pro and Ultra dollar amounts, so check the pricing page for those.

Who it's for

Gamma suits founders, consultants, marketers, teachers and anyone who needs a decent-looking deck quickly and is happy to share it as a link or export it. It is especially strong when you already have the content (notes, a document, a PDF) and want it turned into slides.

Where it falls short

The free credits are a one-time allowance, so the free plan is a trial more than a long-term option. Gamma's card-based format is different from traditional slides, and exported PowerPoint files may need cleanup if your company expects strict slide masters. Teams that need SSO have to move to Business, which is billed per member.

Beautiful.ai Review

Beautiful.ai has been around longer than most AI presentation tools, and its core idea predates the current AI wave: Smart Slides. These are layouts that resize, realign and animate content as you add it, so you cannot easily make a slide look messy. Beautiful.ai lists more than 300 Smart Slide layouts.

Its AI feature, Create with AI, is deliberately staged. You start from a topic, an outline or a source document, review and edit a text outline, and only then let it generate designed slides. You can then refine copy and layouts with AI help. This is slower than a one-shot generator, but it gives you more control over what the deck actually says.

Pricing in plain words

  • Pro (individual): $14.50 per month billed annually. Includes unlimited AI content generation, Smart Slide layouts, PowerPoint import and export, custom branding and theme builder, stock media, viewer analytics and slide transitions.
  • Team (2 to 20 users): $40 per user per month billed annually, or $50 per user per month billed monthly. Adds real-time collaborative editing, a central slide and template library, engagement tracking, custom branded themes, version control and live data linking to charts and tables.
  • One-time monthly plan: $45 for a month of access, for ad hoc projects.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing, with dedicated onboarding, SSO, advanced permissions, priority support and security certifications including SOC 2 Type II.

Pro and Team both come with a 14-day free trial. There is no forever-free plan.

Who it's for

Beautiful.ai is a strong fit for sales teams, consultants and marketing teams who make many business decks and want them to look consistent without a designer. The Team plan's shared slide library and branded themes help keep a whole team on brand.

Where it falls short

Smart Slides trade freedom for consistency. If you want to place elements exactly where you like, the guardrails can feel restrictive. The Team plan is expensive compared with Pitch or Canva, and there is no free plan to fall back on after the trial.

Pitch Review

Pitch is a Berlin-based presentation platform built for teams. It positions itself as "the AI presentation workspace," and its AI layer, Pitch Agent, generates on-brand slides from a prompt and helps you refine them. The core of Pitch is collaboration: several people editing the same deck in real time, comments, shared templates and engagement analytics that show how viewers interact with a shared presentation.

We checked Pitch's status because the company restructured in early 2024. Pitch is live and actively developed, with a public pricing page, a current product lineup and Pitch Agent as its newest feature.

Pricing in plain words

Pitch lists prices in euros. Prices below are for yearly billing; Pitch says yearly billing saves 17% compared with monthly.

  • Free: €0, up to 5 members, unlimited presentations, custom templates, basic sharing links and 2 external guests. Includes 100 AI credits that do not renew.
  • Plus: €10 per month, 1 member, 500 AI credits per month, custom fonts, video uploads, PowerPoint exports and 5 external guests.
  • Team: €15 per seat per month, up to 25 members, 500 AI credits per month shared across the team, advanced links, teamspaces and shared Pitch rooms.
  • Business: €20 per seat per month, up to 200 members, 750 AI credits per month, and unlimited advanced links, teamspaces, Pitch rooms and external guests.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing, for 30 or more members, with SAML-based SSO and SCIM, a dedicated success manager and priority support.

Pitch supports importing PPTX files, and the plan comparison lists engagement analytics, recordings, a Loom integration and custom domains.

Who it's for

Pitch suits startups, agencies and sales or marketing teams who build decks together and want to see how they land after sending them. The free plan is unusually useful for small teams because it allows up to five members.

Where it falls short

AI credits are tight on lower plans, and Team plan credits are shared across the whole team. PowerPoint export is not in the free plan. Prices in euros mean US buyers should check the exact amount at checkout.

Canva Review

Canva is a design platform first and a presentation tool second, but it is a very capable presentation tool. You get the same editor, templates, brand kits and huge media library for slides that you get for social posts, videos and documents. Canva AI can draft content and designs, and paid plans add more AI tools such as resize, translate and background removal.

For many marketing teams, Canva is already the place where brand assets live. Making decks there keeps everything in one tool.

Pricing in plain words

  • Free: $0. Drag-and-drop editor, more than 1.6 million templates, millions of photos and graphics, 1 Brand Kit (3 colors only), 5 GB of storage, and up to 20 standard or premium AI uses.
  • Pro: $144 per year or $18 per month, for one person. Premium templates and media, AI tools, 5 Brand Kits, 100 GB storage, and Canva says 10 times more AI than Canva Free. An AI Pass add-on is available at extra cost.
  • Business: $250 per person per year or $25 per month. Adds collaboration and team admin tools, 100 Brand Kits with approvals, 500 GB storage, and 20 times more AI than Canva Free.
  • Enterprise: contact sales. Adds SSO and SCIM, custom apps, more brand controls and priority support.

Canva notes that different AI tools use your shared AI allowance at different rates, so heavy AI use can run out faster than the headline suggests.

Who it's for

Canva fits marketers, social media teams, educators and small businesses who want decks that look designed and who also make other visual content. If your team already pays for Canva, it is the obvious first thing to try.

Where it falls short

Canva's AI is a general design assistant rather than a dedicated deck generator, so it is less focused than Gamma for turning a long document into a structured presentation. The free plan's AI allowance is small. Large teams need Business or Enterprise for admin and approval features.

Plus AI Review

Plus AI takes a different approach from every other tool here: it does not ask you to leave PowerPoint or Google Slides. It installs as an add-in or add-on, generates presentations from a prompt or document, and produces native slides that you edit like any other deck. It can also insert single slides, rewrite text and remix a slide into a different layout, such as turning a paragraph into three columns.

For companies with strict PowerPoint templates, IT rules or clients who expect .pptx files, that is a big advantage. One subscription covers both PowerPoint and Google Slides.

Pricing in plain words

All paid plans start with a 7-day free trial that includes 1,000 AI credits. A credit card is required, and the plan starts charging when the trial ends. Prices are per user.

  • Basic: $10 per month billed annually, or $15 billed monthly. 1,500 AI credits per month, AI presentations in Google Slides and PowerPoint, single-slide insert and rewrite or remix with AI.
  • Pro: $20 per month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly. 3,000 credits per month, document uploads (PDF, docx, txt), very long prompts, AI images, the Plus AI MCP server and Presentation API, and unlimited team members.
  • Team: $30 per month billed annually, or $40 billed monthly. 6,000 credits per month, custom branding (logo, colors and fonts), advanced image models, saved presets and team-wide branding and templates.
  • Max: $200 per month billed annually, or $240 billed monthly. Unlimited AI credits and priority email support.
  • Enterprise: custom templates built from your own slide masters, asset libraries, SSO and user management.

Plus AI says a typical task uses between 40 and 170 credits depending on complexity. It also says it has SOC 2 Type II compliance.

Who it's for

Plus AI is the best fit for consultants, corporate teams and anyone whose final deliverable has to be a PowerPoint or Google Slides file. It is also interesting for technical teams: the MCP server lets you ask AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT to build decks through Plus AI.

Where it falls short

There is no free plan after the trial, and the trial needs a card. Custom branding starts on the Team plan, and using your company's real slide masters requires Enterprise. Because it works inside other apps, design quality is limited by what PowerPoint and Google Slides can do.

Prezi Review

Prezi is the oldest name in this list and still the most different. Instead of a stack of slides, a Prezi presentation is a canvas you zoom and pan across, which can make talks, lessons and storytelling feel more dynamic. Prezi now includes Prezi AI, which can generate a presentation from a prompt or uploaded file and help with images and text.

Pricing in plain words

Prezi's own published pricing (June 2026) lists these individual plans, billed annually:

  • Basic: free. Presentations are public by default and some features, such as PDF export, need a paid plan.
  • Standard: $7 per month. Includes Prezi AI generation with a credit cap.
  • Plus: $19 per month. Removes the AI credit cap and adds more import, export and offline options.
  • Premium: $29 per month. Adds analytics on top of Plus.

Prezi also sells education plans for students and teachers. Team pricing has changed during 2026, so check Prezi's site for current team options. We could not confirm monthly billing prices on Prezi's site.

Who it's for

Prezi suits speakers, teachers, trainers and anyone presenting a story where showing the big picture and zooming into details helps. It is also used for video presentations where the presenter appears alongside the content.

Where it falls short

The zooming format is not what most business audiences expect, and decks often need to be rebuilt if a client wants a standard PowerPoint file. Free presentations are public, so the free plan does not work for anything confidential. The plan lineup and AI limits have changed often, which makes it harder to predict costs.

How to Choose by Use Case

You need a good-looking deck fast, from notes or a document

Choose Gamma. It is built around turning prompts, notes and files into full decks quickly, and it exports to PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides. Start on Free to see whether the output works for you, then move to a paid plan once the one-time credits run out.

Your company lives in PowerPoint or Google Slides

Choose Plus AI. It generates native slides inside the apps you already use, so there is no export step and no new tool for IT to approve. If you need your real corporate template, look at the Enterprise plan.

Your team builds and sends decks together

Choose Pitch. Real-time collaboration, shared templates, engagement analytics and up to five members on the free plan make it the best team option here. Business adds unlimited advanced links and guests for larger teams.

You need every deck to look consistent and on brand

Choose Beautiful.ai. Smart Slides prevent messy layouts, and the Team plan adds a shared slide library and branded themes. It costs more per seat, but it saves time fixing other people's slides.

You already design everything else in Canva

Choose Canva. If your brand kit, photos and templates are already there, building decks in the same place is simpler than adding another tool. Canva Business adds approvals and team admin.

You give talks, teach or tell stories

Choose Prezi. The zooming canvas is still the most distinctive presentation style available, and AI generation helps you get a first draft faster.

Two things stand out. First, "free" means very different things: Gamma and Pitch give a one-time batch of AI credits, Canva gives a small allowance, and Beautiful.ai and Plus AI only offer trials. Second, credit systems make direct comparisons tricky, because a credit in one tool does not buy the same amount of work as a credit in another. If you will generate decks often, estimate how many you make per month and test that volume during a trial.

For a team of 10, the gap between tools is large. Pitch Team costs €150 per month on yearly billing, Plus AI Team costs $300 per month on annual billing, and Beautiful.ai Team costs $400 per month on annual billing. Canva Business works out to $2,500 per year for 10 people.

Final Recommendation

For most people, Gamma is the best AI presentation maker in 2026. It does the core job, turning a prompt or document into a complete, good-looking deck, faster and with less effort than anything else here. The free plan is enough to judge the output, it exports to PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides, and paid plans scale from individuals to SSO-ready business workspaces.

Pick something else when your situation calls for it:

  • Plus AI if your decks must stay in PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • Pitch if your team builds decks together and wants analytics after sending them.
  • Beautiful.ai if brand consistency matters more than speed or price.
  • Canva if your team already designs everything else there.
  • Prezi if you present talks or lessons and want a zooming, non-linear format.

Whichever you choose, use the trial or free plan with a real deck you need to make this month. AI output varies a lot with the kind of content you feed it, and a real project shows the limits of a credit system far better than a demo prompt does.

Frequently asked questions

For most people, Gamma. It turns a prompt, notes or a PDF or PowerPoint file into a full deck quickly, and even the free plan exports to PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides. Choose Plus AI if you must stay in PowerPoint or Google Slides, Pitch for team collaboration, and Beautiful.ai for strict brand consistency.
