Why Your Quiz Maker Choice Matters

"Quiz maker" covers two very different jobs, and most tools are built for one of them.

The first job is marketing. A brand runs a "Which skincare routine fits you?" quiz or a "What is your marketing maturity score?" assessment. The goal is to capture an email address, tag the lead by their result, and send them to the right product or email sequence. What matters here is lead capture, result pages with calls to action, email and CRM integrations, and branding.

The second job is testing knowledge. A trainer, HR team, school or certification body needs a scored quiz with right and wrong answers. What matters here is grading, time limits, attempt limits, question banks that pull random questions, certificates, reports per person and, for high-stakes exams, proctoring.

A tool that is great at one job can be weak at the other. A personality quiz builder with 40 email integrations may have no timer and no certificates. An exam platform with proctoring may have few email marketing connections and a "Powered by" link you pay extra to remove.

Pricing models also differ more than in most software categories:

  • Lead caps. Interact and Outgrow limit email leads per month on each plan.
  • Response or submission caps. Typeform limits responses per month; involve.me's free plan limits submissions and visits.
  • Per quiz taker. ProProfs Quiz Maker prices by active quiz takers per month.
  • Unlimited leads with a concurrency cap. Riddle allows unlimited content, views and leads, and only limits how many people play at the same moment.
  • Branding removal. It is included on every Riddle plan, but needs a mid or top tier elsewhere, or a paid add-on at ProProfs.

What to look for:

  • The quiz types you need. Personality (outcome) quizzes, scored knowledge quizzes, assessments, calculators or product recommendations.
  • Lead capture and integrations. Check that your email platform or CRM is on the plan you plan to buy, not just on the top tier.
  • Grading features. Timers, attempt limits, question banks, certificates and per-taker reports, if you are testing people.
  • The real limit on each plan. Quizzes, leads, responses, quiz takers or live funnels.
  • Branding. Whether you can remove the vendor's logo, and at what price.

Interact review

Overview

Interact is a quiz builder made for one purpose: turning website visitors into email subscribers. Its plans are counted in quizzes and email leads, and its integration list is mostly email marketing platforms. It supports personality, assessment and scored quiz logic even on the free plan.

Key features

  • Three quiz logic types on every plan. Personality, assessment and scored. Lite adds branching and category logic.
  • Lead capture forms to collect emails before results, on every plan including Free.
  • Basic integrations from Lite: ActiveCampaign, AWeber, beehiiv, Brevo, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, Kit, dotdigital, Drip, Flodesk, GetResponse, GoHighLevel, Kartra, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, MailerLite, SendGrid, Thinkific and Zapier.
  • Advanced integrations on Pro add HubSpot, Infusionsoft, Maropost and Ontraport.
  • Result page CTAs and landing page redirects from Lite, so each result can send people to a different product or page.
  • AI quiz creation and templates to start a quiz quickly.

Pricing

  • Free: $0. 2 quizzes, 100 quiz completions a month, 1 user, Interact branding, no integrations. Quizzes are paused after 100 responses in a billing period, whether or not lead capture is on.
  • Lite: $27/month billed yearly ($324/year) or $39 month to month. 5 quizzes, 500 email leads a month, 2 users, basic integrations, branching logic. Interact branding stays.
  • Growth: $53/month billed yearly ($636/year) or $89 month to month. 20 quizzes, 2,000 email leads a month, 5 users, fully white-labeled, advanced analytics and Google Analytics conversion tracking.
  • Pro: $125/month billed yearly ($1,500/year) or $209 month to month. 50 quizzes, 8,000 email leads a month, 10 users, advanced integrations, 1:1 onboarding and priority support.

Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial.

Pros

  • Clear focus on list-building quizzes
  • 19 email and marketing integrations on the $27 plan
  • Free plan includes personality, assessment and scored quizzes
  • White label from $53/month billed yearly

Cons

  • Quiz count is capped on every plan (2, 5, 20, 50)
  • Lite keeps Interact branding
  • HubSpot needs the Pro plan
  • No timers, question banks or certificates listed

Who should use it

Coaches, creators, ecommerce brands and small marketing teams who want a personality or product recommendation quiz that feeds an email list.

Who should skip it

Anyone grading people. Interact has scored quizzes, but its pricing page lists no time limits, question banks, attempt limits or certificates.

ProProfs Quiz Maker review

Overview

ProProfs Quiz Maker is the testing tool in this group. It is built for training, HR, certification and education, with features that marketing quiz tools do not have: question banks with tags, timed exams, attempt limits, automatic certificates and proctoring. It also supports scored and personality quizzes and can collect name and email before showing results, so it can do lead capture, but that is not its main strength.

Key features

  • Question banks with tags (Business). Pull questions dynamically by topic or difficulty. ProProfs also offers 1 million+ ready-to-use questions on paid plans.
  • Timed exams and attempt limits (Business), plus scheduling quizzes for set dates and times, and save and resume.
  • Custom certificates (Business) issued automatically on completion, with reminders for expiring certifications.
  • Proctoring (Business Complete Elite): webcam photo capture, screen recording, tab switch detection and copy-paste prevention.
  • AI quiz creation from PDFs, URLs and photos, AI essay grading, 20+ question types, shuffle and randomization, and 70+ languages (Essentials and up).

Pricing

  • Free: $0. 12 questions (8 quiz questions plus 4 lead fields) and 90 days of report history.
  • Essentials: $19.99 per 100 active quiz takers a month billed yearly ($239.88 a year per 100), or $39.99 per 100 month to month. Up to 300 active quiz takers a month.
  • Business: $39.99 per 100 active quiz takers a month billed yearly ($479.88 a year per 100), or $59.99 per 100 month to month. Up to 500 active quiz takers a month.
  • Business Complete Elite: $0.83 per active quiz taker a month, billed yearly ($9.96 per taker a year), for unlimited quiz takers. Annual plans only.
  • Separate plans: K-12 Teacher at $4 a month billed yearly ($48, up to 150 students), Certification exams at $1 per candidate a month billed yearly (minimum 100), and Learning Suite from $499 a month.

An active quiz taker is each unique person who takes a quiz in a month, however many attempts they make. Add-ons cost $300 a year each (or $30 a month on monthly billing): White Label to remove "Powered By" links, an E-commerce package to sell quizzes, and web forms and surveys. There is a 15-day money-back guarantee.

Pros

  • The deepest grading and exam features in this group
  • Unlimited quizzes and questions on paid plans
  • Large ready-made question library and AI quiz creation
  • Education and certification pricing

Cons

  • Per-taker pricing gets expensive with large audiences
  • Question banks, timers and certificates need Business, not Essentials
  • Removing "Powered By" links is a paid add-on
  • Proctoring, API and webhooks only on Elite

Who should use it

Trainers, HR teams, schools and certification programs that need graded tests with time limits, question pools, certificates and reports per person.

Who should skip it

Marketers running a high-traffic lead quiz. A viral quiz can bring thousands of unique takers a month, and per-taker pricing is built for known audiences, not open traffic.

Outgrow review

Overview

Outgrow is an interactive content builder. Quizzes are one of several content types, next to calculators, assessments, polls, ecommerce product recommendations, giveaways and chatbots. That makes it a good fit for B2B marketers who want an ROI calculator and a quiz in the same tool.

Key features

  • Many content types. Outcome quiz, assessment, poll, calculator and form on every paid plan; ecommerce recommendation and giveaway from Freelancer Pro; chatbot and landing page on Essentials.
  • Outcome mapping and formulas. Conditional CTAs, personalized results, and math formulas with if-else logic.
  • Native and Zapier integrations on every plan, except Marketo, SAP and Eloqua, which are an add-on on Business. Outgrow's FAQ says standard plans come with one integration.
  • Analytics for lead data, responses, results and traffic, with export and segmentation.
  • Custom domain (Business) via CNAME; lower plans host content on an Outgrow subdomain.

Pricing

  • Free Forms/Surveys: $0. Forms and surveys only, no quizzes.
  • Freelancer Limited: $14/month billed yearly or $22 month to month. 1 user, 250 leads a month, 5 content pieces. Outgrow branding cannot be removed.
  • Freelancer Pro: $25/month billed yearly or $45 month to month. 1 user, 1,000 leads a month, 7 content pieces.
  • Essentials: $95/month billed yearly or $115 month to month. 3 users, 7,500 leads a month, unlimited content. Branding can be removed only with Outgrow's small business incentive.
  • Business: $600/month billed yearly or $720 month to month. 10 users, 50,000 leads a month, branding removal, custom fonts and webhooks.
  • Startup plans: Startup Basic ($35/month yearly, $55 monthly) for new companies, and Startup Special ($55 yearly, $85 monthly) for startups and small businesses, by application.
  • Enterprise: contact sales.

A 7-day trial gives access to the Business plan without a credit card. Plans are paid upfront for the term, and cancellation takes effect at the end of that term.

Pros

  • The widest range of content types here, including calculators
  • Low entry price for freelancers
  • Integrations on every paid plan
  • Lead limits are generous on Essentials and Business

Cons

  • Full branding removal is on Business ($600/month billed yearly)
  • Freelancer plans cap content pieces at 5 or 7
  • The free plan has no quizzes
  • Many features depend on a "small business incentive"

Who should use it

B2B and SaaS marketers who want quizzes, assessments and calculators in one tool, and agencies with budget for Business.

Who should skip it

Small brands that want a white-labeled quiz on a small budget, and anyone who needs exam features like timers and certificates.

Riddle review

Overview

Riddle is a quiz and engagement platform used heavily by publishers, sports teams and brands. Its pricing is the opposite of most tools here: every plan has unlimited content, views and leads, and every plan is white-labeled. The only usage limit is how many people play at the same moment.

Key features

  • 35+ formats on every plan: quizzes, personality tests, polls, surveys, minigames, predictors, leaderboards, stories and forms.
  • Unlimited leads and views. The cap is concurrent participants: 10,000 on Pro, 20,000 on Business, 50,000 on Enterprise.
  • White label on every plan, including outgoing emails, with your logo, colors and fonts.
  • Lead integrations on every plan: Google Sheets, Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign, AWeber, Zapier, ApiX-Drive, Salesforce and webhooks, plus .xlsx export.
  • Question bank and timers on every plan: draw random questions from a pool, set time limits per question or Riddle, and schedule start and end times.
  • Business tier extras: the Stats, Leads and Builder API, advanced tracking (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Matomo, Adobe, custom scripts) and a data layer.

Pricing

  • Pro: $119/month billed yearly or $129 month to month. 1 seat, 3 embed domains, 10,000 concurrent participants.
  • Business: $349/month billed yearly or $399 month to month. 1 seat, 10 domains, 20,000 concurrent participants.
  • Enterprise: $749/month billed yearly or $799 month to month as a base price. 6 seats, 15 domains, 50,000 concurrent participants, SSO.

Extra users cost $19 and extra domains $39. There is no free plan, but every plan starts with a 14-day trial with no credit card, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Non-profits get 20% off.

Pros

  • Unlimited leads and views on every plan
  • White label on every plan
  • Salesforce and email integrations from the cheapest plan
  • Strong formats for media: predictors, leaderboards, minigames

Cons

  • No free plan
  • The highest entry price in this group
  • One seat on Pro and Business
  • Small G2 review base (21 reviews)

Who should use it

Publishers, media brands and larger marketing teams with high or spiky traffic, who would outgrow lead caps on other tools.

Who should skip it

Solo creators and small businesses on a tight budget, and teams that need exam tools such as certificates or proctoring.

involve.me review

Overview

involve.me is a funnel builder that covers quizzes, assessments, calculators, surveys, forms and payment forms. It sits between marketing and testing: it has lead capture, email sequences and a built-in CRM, but also answer scoring, instant answer feedback and timers on every plan.

Key features

  • Answer scoring and instant feedback on every plan, with individual values for scores and calculations.
  • Page timers and a funnel timer on every plan, useful for timed challenges.
  • Payments through Stripe, Square or PayPal on every plan (1 payment platform on Start, 2 on Grow, 10 on Scale).
  • Email automation and built-in CRM, with sequences triggered by answers and scores.
  • Integrations: Kit, Mailchimp, MailerLite, Flodesk, AWeber, Campaign Monitor, Google Sheets, Zapier and more on every plan; HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Brevo and Klaviyo from Grow; Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics and webhooks on Scale.

Pricing

Prices are net of EU VAT.

  • Free: $0. Up to 50 submissions or 500 visits a month. Paid features can be tested on draft funnels.
  • Start: $29/month billed yearly or $49 month to month. 3 live funnels, 1 user. The involve.me watermark stays.
  • Grow: $69/month billed yearly or $99 month to month. 5 live funnels, 2 users, watermark removal, 1 custom domain, HubSpot and Klaviyo. Extra seats $10 per user a month.
  • Scale: $139/month billed yearly or $199 month to month. 25 live funnels, 5 users, A/B testing, email and SMS verification, partial submissions, Salesforce and webhooks.
  • Enterprise: from $499/month on annual contracts. SSO and SOC 2 Type 2 reports.

A 14-day trial of a paid plan needs billing details. involve.me says it does not usually refund once a paid period has started.

Pros

  • Quizzes, calculators and payment forms in one builder
  • Scoring, instant feedback and timers on every plan
  • Built-in email sequences and CRM
  • Free plan to test the builder

Cons

  • Start plan keeps the watermark
  • Live funnel caps (3, 5, 25) limit how many quizzes run at once
  • HubSpot and Klaviyo need Grow
  • No refunds once a billing period starts

Who should use it

Small businesses and marketers who want a quiz that scores leads, takes payments or books a next step, all without extra tools.

Who should skip it

Training teams that need question banks, certificates and per-learner reports, and large teams that need many live quizzes on a low tier.

Typeform review

Overview

Typeform is a form builder first, known for its one-question-at-a-time design. Its quiz features are logic based: you can build knowledge quizzes and outcome quizzes with scores, calculations and custom variables, and show different endings per result. For a team already using Typeform for forms and surveys, that may be enough.

Key features

  • Knowledge quizzes and outcome quizzes using scores and calculations.
  • Logic, recall and multiple endings for personalized results.
  • Custom variables and hidden fields to track scores and pass data.
  • 500+ integrations via Zapier, plus native HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Sheets, Airtable, Slack and others.
  • AI form creation on every paid plan.

Pricing

  • Free: 10 responses a month across all forms.
  • Basic: $28/month billed yearly or $39 month to month. 100 responses a month, 1 user.
  • Plus: $56/month billed yearly or $79 month to month. 1,000 responses a month, 3 users, remove Typeform branding, custom subdomain.
  • Business: $91/month billed yearly or $129 month to month. 10,000 responses a month, 5 users, drop-off rates, conversion tracking and Salesforce.
  • Growth Flow: $266/month billed yearly or $379 month to month, after a 14-day trial (card required). Adds lead enrichment for 1,500 contacts a month.
  • Enterprise: contact sales.

Response limits reset each month and apply to monthly and yearly plans alike.

Pros

  • Polished, mobile-friendly design
  • Quizzes, forms and surveys in one tool
  • Very large integration library
  • Branding removal from Plus

Cons

  • Only 100 responses a month on Basic
  • No timers, question banks, attempt limits or certificates listed
  • Quiz scoring is built with logic, not dedicated quiz settings
  • Response caps make high-traffic quizzes costly

Who should use it

Teams already paying for Typeform who want an occasional outcome quiz or knowledge check without adding a new tool.

Who should skip it

Anyone whose main goal is quizzes. A dedicated quiz maker gives more quiz features and more leads for the money.

Head-to-Head: Lead Generation and Personality Quizzes

For personality and product recommendation quizzes that grow a list, the dedicated marketing tools lead.

  • Interact is the most focused. Personality, assessment and scored logic on every plan, lead capture before results, and result page CTAs and redirects from Lite.
  • Outgrow covers outcome quizzes and assessments, and adds ecommerce recommendations, giveaways and calculators. Good when a quiz is one of several lead magnets.
  • Riddle offers personality tests, quizzes and predictors with unlimited leads, which matters most when traffic is large or unpredictable.
  • involve.me builds quizzes as funnels, with email sequences triggered by results and scores.
  • Typeform can build outcome quizzes with logic, but caps responses at 100 a month on Basic.
  • ProProfs Quiz Maker supports personality quizzes and lead fields, but its per-taker pricing is not designed for open traffic.

Head-to-Head: Scored Quizzes, Grading and Certificates

For tests where people pass or fail, the picture flips.

  • ProProfs Quiz Maker is the clear choice. Business adds question banks with tags, timed exams, attempt limits, scheduling and automatic certificates. Elite adds proctoring with webcam capture, screen recording and tab switch detection. AI essay grading is on Essentials.
  • involve.me has answer scoring, instant answer feedback, and page and funnel timers on every plan. That is enough for a timed challenge or a scored self-assessment, but its pricing page lists no question banks or certificates.
  • Riddle lists a question bank that draws random questions from a pool, plus time limits per question or Riddle and scheduling, on every plan. Its pricing page lists no certificates or attempt limits.
  • Interact, Outgrow and Typeform all score answers and show results by score. None of their pricing pages list certificates, question banks or attempt limits.

If a person's score has consequences, such as compliance training, hiring or certification, use ProProfs Quiz Maker.

Head-to-Head: Limits and What You Pay For

Every tool limits something different, so compare on your own numbers.

ToolWhat the plan limitsEntry plan limit
InteractQuizzes and email leads per monthLite: 5 quizzes, 500 leads/month
OutgrowLeads per month and content piecesFreelancer Limited: 250 leads/month, 5 pieces
ProProfs Quiz MakerActive quiz takers per monthEssentials: billed per 100, up to 300
RiddleConcurrent participants onlyPro: 10,000 at once, unlimited leads
involve.meLive funnelsStart: 3 live funnels
TypeformResponses per monthBasic: 100 responses/month

Two examples. A quiz that collects 1,500 leads a month needs Interact Growth ($53/month billed yearly), Outgrow Essentials ($95/month billed yearly), or Typeform Business ($91/month billed yearly) because Plus caps responses at 1,000. On Riddle Pro ($119/month billed yearly) lead volume is not limited. A training quiz for 250 known employees a month would need three blocks of 100 on ProProfs Essentials (about $60/month billed yearly) or Business (about $120/month billed yearly) if you need timers and certificates.

Head-to-Head: Branding and White Label

Removing the vendor's logo often decides the real price.

  • Riddle: white label on every plan, including outgoing emails.
  • Interact: from Growth ($53/month billed yearly).
  • involve.me: from Grow ($69/month billed yearly).
  • Typeform: from Plus ($56/month billed yearly).
  • ProProfs Quiz Maker: White Label add-on at $300 a year on top of your plan.
  • Outgrow: Business ($600/month billed yearly), or Essentials with Outgrow's small business incentive.

Head-to-Head: Integrations

  • Interact has the longest list of email platforms on its cheapest paid plan, including Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Kit, ActiveCampaign and Flodesk. HubSpot is Pro only.
  • Riddle includes Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign, AWeber, Salesforce, Zapier and webhooks on every plan.
  • involve.me includes Kit, Mailchimp, MailerLite, Flodesk, AWeber, Stripe, Square, Google Sheets and Zapier on every plan; HubSpot and Klaviyo from Grow; Salesforce and webhooks on Scale.
  • Outgrow includes native and Zapier integrations on every plan (one integration on standard plans); webhooks from Startup and Essentials tiers with its small business incentive, and on Business; Marketo, SAP and Eloqua as a Business add-on.
  • Typeform has 500+ integrations through Zapier plus many native ones.
  • ProProfs Quiz Maker lists CRM and ATS sync (Salesforce, HubSpot, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday), API and webhooks on Business Complete Elite.

Head-to-Head: Free Plans and Trials

  • Interact: free plan with 2 quizzes and 100 completions a month; 7-day trial on paid plans.
  • involve.me: free plan with 50 submissions or 500 visits a month; 14-day paid trial with billing details.
  • ProProfs Quiz Maker: free plan limited to 12 questions and 90 days of reports; 15-day money-back guarantee.
  • Typeform: free plan with 10 responses a month across all forms.
  • Outgrow: free plan covers forms and surveys only; 7-day Business trial without a card.
  • Riddle: no free plan; 14-day trial without a card and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

How to Choose

Start with the kind of quiz.

  1. Personality or product recommendation quiz for leads: Interact first, involve.me if you also want payments or email sequences, Riddle if traffic is high.
  2. Calculator or ROI tool next to a quiz: Outgrow or involve.me.
  3. Graded test, training check or certification exam: ProProfs Quiz Maker.
  4. Occasional quiz from a team already on Typeform: Typeform.

Then price the plan that matches your monthly leads, responses or quiz takers, and add branding removal if you need it.

Red flags

  • Lead or response caps that pause your quiz. Interact's free plan pauses quizzes at 100 responses; involve.me's free plan locks funnels at its limit until the next month.
  • Branding that needs a top tier. On Outgrow, full removal is on Business.
  • Per-taker pricing on open traffic. ProProfs counts every unique quiz taker.
  • Exam features on a higher tier than you planned. ProProfs timers, question banks and certificates are on Business, proctoring on Elite.
  • Upfront terms. Outgrow charges for the full term upfront and cancels at the end of it; involve.me does not usually refund once a period starts.

What to test before you commit

  • Build your real quiz on the free plan or trial, with your own result logic.
  • Connect your email platform or CRM and check that answers and results, not only the email address, arrive as tags or fields.
  • Take the quiz on a phone.
  • For tests, check timers, attempt limits, question pools and the certificate a taker receives.
  • Look at the reports: per-person scores for tests, drop-off and conversion for lead quizzes.
  • Confirm what happens when you hit the plan limit, and what happens to your data if you cancel.

The Verdict

Interact is the best quiz maker for most marketers. It is built around lead generation quizzes, includes personality, assessment and scored logic on every plan, connects to 19 email and marketing tools on the $27/month plan, and removes branding from Growth at $53/month billed yearly.

ProProfs Quiz Maker is the best for scored tests and exams. Question banks, timed exams, attempt limits and certificates on Business, and proctoring on Elite, are features the marketing tools do not list.

Outgrow is the pick for calculators and many content types. Riddle suits high-traffic publishers and brands that want unlimited leads and white label on every plan. involve.me suits quiz funnels that score, take payments and run email sequences. Typeform makes sense when you already use it for forms.

Conclusion

Decide first whether your quiz is meant to win leads or to test knowledge. For leads, compare on lead caps, integrations and branding: Interact for most small teams, Riddle for high traffic, Outgrow for calculators, involve.me for funnels with payments. For testing, ProProfs Quiz Maker has the grading, timers, certificates and proctoring that the others do not list. Then use each tool's free plan or trial to build the quiz you will actually run before you pay for a year.

Frequently asked questions

Interact is our pick for most marketers. It supports personality, assessment and scored quizzes on every plan, captures emails before results, and connects to 19 tools including Klaviyo, Mailchimp and Zapier on the Lite plan ($27/month billed yearly). Riddle is better for very high traffic because every plan has unlimited leads.
