Why Your NPS Tool Choice Matters

Net Promoter Score looks simple: one question, a 0 to 10 scale, and a number that is promoters minus detractors. Running an NPS program is harder. You need to ask the right people at the right moment, follow up on what they say, get detractors in front of someone who can help, and track the score over time by segment so you can see what changed and why.

A form builder can ask the question and calculate a score. A dedicated NPS tool also decides who gets surveyed and when, sends responses to your CRM or help desk, and reports trends by segment.

The market also shifted this year. Delighted, one of the best-known NPS tools, is gone. Qualtrics, which owned it, set June 30, 2026 as the sunset date, and delighted.com now redirects to a Qualtrics page that says the product is "no longer available." If you are searching for a Delighted replacement, every tool below is still live and sold today.

What to look for:

  • Channels. In-app (web and mobile), email with the score embedded in the message, SMS, and shareable links. Not every tool does all four, and some put SMS or in-app on higher tiers.
  • Pricing basis. NPS tools charge in very different ways: per response, per survey sent, per monthly active user, or per seat. The same program can cost very different amounts depending on the model.
  • Follow-up questions. A good NPS survey asks "why" and changes the follow-up based on the score.
  • Closing the loop. Alerts for detractors, routing to the right person, and a record that someone followed up.
  • Reporting. NPS trend lines, segment filters and text analysis of open comments.
  • Integrations. Your CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce), help desk (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk) and team chat (Slack, Teams).

Survicate review

Overview

Survicate is a customer feedback platform that runs NPS alongside CSAT, CES and other surveys. Its NPS page says you can "launch contextual Net Promoter Score surveys by email, on websites, in-product, or in mobile apps." That covers most of the places an NPS program needs to reach, and the pricing page shows real prices for its lower tiers, which is less common than it should be in this category.

Key features

  • Many channels on every paid plan. Survicate's pricing data lists email and link, website pop-ups, in-product, mobile app (SDK), iframe embeds, kiosk mode, QR codes and Intercom surveys on Starter.
  • Email with the first question embedded. Respondents can click a score straight from the email.
  • Follow-up questions and branch logic. Ask detractors what went wrong and promoters what they value.
  • NPS over time. Track the score over time, export graphs, and see a word cloud of common topics.
  • Integrations. Survicate names HubSpot, Intercom, Salesforce, Slack, Productboard and FullStory on its NPS page, and Microsoft Teams, Mixpanel and Amplitude in its FAQ. Zendesk and Zapier appear in its integration catalog. HubSpot and Intercom start on Growth; Salesforce, Amplitude and Mixpanel need Pro.

Pricing

  • Free: 25 responses per month, 1 active survey at a time, up to 3 team members and 30-day data retention.
  • Starter: monthly commitment, from $89/month for 100 responses, $179 for 250 and $279 for 500. Overage fees range from $0.89 to $0.39 per extra response. 2 active surveys, 5 seats, 6 months of data retention.
  • Growth: billed annually, from $56/month for 100 responses a month, $114 for 250 (the default shown on the pricing card) and up to $289 for 1,500, with 10 seats and 2 teams. HubSpot and Intercom integrations and attribute targeting start here. Survicate describes Growth as adding AI analysis, multilingual surveys and custom branding.
  • Pro: from $349/month, billed monthly or annually, with a custom yearly pool of responses and 40+ integrations. Pro adds Salesforce, Amplitude and Mixpanel, event targeting and filtering results by CRM attributes.
  • Enterprise: from $569/month, with SAML SSO, access logs and a dedicated success manager.

New accounts start with a 10-day trial of Pro features, no card required, then drop to the Free plan.

Pros

  • Covers email, link, web, in-product and mobile in one tool
  • Free plan to test an NPS survey before paying
  • Published prices tied to responses, so cost is easy to estimate
  • Integrations with the main CRMs and help desks

Cons

  • Response caps are tight on Free and Starter
  • Growth needs an annual commitment
  • No built-in case management; follow-up runs through Slack, CRM or help desk integrations
  • Salesforce, Amplitude, Mixpanel and event targeting need Pro ($349/month)

Who should use it

Small and mid-size teams that want one NPS tool for both email and in-product surveys, with HubSpot, Salesforce or Intercom connected, and who want to see prices before talking to sales.

Who should skip it

High-volume programs that would quickly outgrow response-based pricing, and teams that need ticket-style case management for detractors inside the NPS tool.

Refiner review

Overview

Refiner describes itself as "customer feedback software for SaaS, fintech, and marketplace teams." It is built for in-app surveys: you install a script or mobile SDK, then show NPS to users based on events, pages or traits. Its pricing model is different from most of this list: paid plans include unlimited survey responses under a fair use policy, and you pay by monthly active users (MAU).

Key features

  • In-app web and native mobile. JavaScript, Google Tag Manager or NPM for web, and SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter. Email surveys with the first question embedded and survey pages are included too.
  • Targeting. Trigger by page, time or user trait on every plan. Tracked-event triggers and behavior segments need Growth.
  • Smart follow-ups. Survey logic asks a follow-up that fits each answer and can skip questions your user data already answers, such as role or plan.
  • Reporting. NPS, CSAT and CES charts with trend lines, segmentation by user attributes, and AI tagging of open-text answers.
  • Integrations. Slack and Teams alerts and Zapier on every plan. Growth adds two-way sync with Segment and RudderStack, data push to HubSpot, Salesforce, Amplitude and Mixpanel, Make, webhooks and the REST API.

Pricing

  • Free: 25 responses per month with Essentials features, after the trial or if you cancel.
  • Essentials: $149/month billed monthly or $1,490/year (about $124/month) at 5,000 MAU. The price rises with MAU, for example $179/month at 10,000 MAU. Includes all survey channels, 20 published surveys, 20 segments, 2 dashboards and unlimited team members.
  • Growth: $279/month or $2,790/year at 5,000 MAU. Adds event tracking and behavior segments, CRM, CDP and analytics integrations, REST API and webhooks, multilingual surveys, unlimited dashboards and 60 segments.
  • Enterprise: custom quote, billed annually.

Annual billing saves 17%. The free trial runs 30 days, capped at 100 responses, no card needed.

Pros

  • Unlimited responses on paid plans, so you can survey every active user
  • Strong event and trait targeting for in-app NPS
  • Native mobile SDKs, including React Native and Flutter
  • Unlimited team members on every plan

Cons

  • Event targeting and HubSpot, Salesforce and Segment integrations need Growth
  • Cost grows with your active user count, not your survey volume
  • Less suited to businesses without a web or mobile app

Who should use it

SaaS, fintech and app teams that want NPS shown inside the product to the right users at the right moment, with results flowing into Segment or a CRM.

Who should skip it

Service businesses that mostly survey by email or SMS, and very large consumer apps where MAU-based pricing would be high.

Retently review

Overview

Retently focuses on three metrics: NPS, CSAT and CES. Its homepage lists email, SMS and in-app surveys, and the pricing page also lists link, embedded, kiosk and feedback button surveys. It splits plans into Ecommerce and B2B groups: B2B plans add HubSpot and Pipedrive integrations, company-level CX scores and recurring survey campaigns, while Ecommerce plans connect to tools like Shopify and Gorgias.

Key features

  • Dedicated NPS, CSAT and CES. All three metrics on every plan.
  • Channels. Email, SMS, in-app web pop-ups, link, embed, kiosk and feedback button surveys.
  • Response workflows. Automated workflows can create team tasks, and AI routing can trigger follow-ups and alerts based on sentiment and urgency.
  • AI analysis. An AI CX agent looks across surveys, reviews and tickets to point out what is breaking and why.
  • Integrations. Shopify, Klaviyo, Gorgias, Zendesk, Gladly and Kustomer for ecommerce; Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Intercom, Slack, Segment and Zapier for B2B.

Pricing

  • Ecommerce Basic: $99/month, 2,500 surveys a month, 10 campaigns, 3 seats.
  • Ecommerce Pro: $299/month, 20,000 surveys a month, 10 seats, plus the API and an MCP server.
  • Enterprise: contact sales; adds the Salesforce integration and custom integrations.
  • B2B plans: listed on a separate tab. Their prices are not in the page's readable content, so they are not shown here.

Yearly billing saves 10%. Responses are not capped, but storage costs $100/month per 100,000 stored responses or feedback records. Credits reset monthly; when they run out, email and in-app surveys queue and link and Intercom surveys stop working. There is a 14-day free trial with no card required.

Pros

  • Built only for NPS, CSAT and CES, so setup is focused
  • Email, SMS and in-app channels
  • Company-level scores for B2B accounts
  • Workflows and AI routing for follow-up

Cons

  • Plans meter surveys sent, not responses, so low response rates cost more per answer
  • Salesforce is on Enterprise
  • Storage fee for very large response histories
  • B2B prices were not readable on the public page

Who should use it

Ecommerce brands and B2B companies that want a tool dedicated to relationship and transactional NPS, with built-in follow-up workflows.

Who should skip it

Teams that want one survey tool for research and product questions too, or Salesforce shops that do not want to buy Enterprise.

Simplesat review

Overview

Simplesat is a feedback tool for support teams. Surveys go out automatically when tickets close, or sit inside help desk email templates, and the response shows up on the ticket. It supports NPS, CSAT, CES and 5-star surveys. Its prices are fully published.

Key features

  • Surveys in help desk emails. Embed in ticket-close emails and templates, email signatures, or Intercom and Crisp conversations.
  • Feedback on the ticket. Agents see feedback without a paid seat.
  • Alerts and routing. Slack, Teams or email alerts within minutes, routing by score, brand or team, and weekly digests for managers.
  • Reporting. Segment by brand, region, tier, tag or team, track trends, and export to CSV or PDF.
  • Integrations. Zendesk, Gladly, Gorgias, Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Front, Kustomer and more, plus HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Microsoft Dynamics 365. SMS surveys through Aircall and Twilio.

Billing is per response, not per survey sent, and surveys are unlimited. Responses over your limit are held and released when the monthly allowance resets. Salesforce starts on Pro, automatic topic detection on Pro, and multi-language surveys on Premium. The 14-day trial includes Premium features with no card.

Pros

  • Clear published prices, monthly or annual
  • Pays per response, not per email sent
  • Deep help desk integrations, with feedback shown on tickets
  • Agents do not need paid seats

Cons

  • Built around support tickets, not in-app product NPS
  • Salesforce and automatic topic detection need Pro
  • Multi-language surveys need Premium ($499/month billed annually)

Who should use it

Support and CX teams that want NPS and CSAT tied to help desk tickets, with alerts and per-agent reporting.

Who should skip it

Product teams that want in-app NPS targeted by user behavior.

AskNicely review

Overview

AskNicely is an NPS and CSAT platform for multi-location service businesses, with industry pages for pest control, accounting, healthcare, insurance and legal. It focuses on getting feedback to frontline staff and managers, with coaching, leaderboards and recognition built in.

Key features

  • Channels. Email, SMS, WhatsApp, QR code and mobile app surveys. In-app surveys are on the Transform plan.
  • Conversational surveys. Follow-up questions to get richer answers, analyzed by NiceAI.
  • Frontline coaching. Leaderboards on every plan, real-time TV displays on Grow, and team huddles and frontline coaching on Transform.
  • Review requests. Grow adds review requests, a Google review manager and testimonial generation.
  • Integrations. Dozens listed, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, Help Scout, Shopify, MINDBODY, PestPac, Twilio, Slack and Zapier.

Pricing

AskNicely does not publish prices. Its three plans, Learn, Grow and Transform, all start "from 500 responses" and price "scales with response volume." Plans are mainly annual with multi-year discounts, users are unlimited, and overages are billed. SSO is a $1,500/year add-on on Grow and Transform. Plans over $9,600 a year get a named Customer Success Manager. The pricing page says: "No, we don't offer a free trial."

Pros

  • Unlimited users on every plan
  • SMS and WhatsApp for customers who do not read email
  • Coaching and leaderboards built for frontline teams
  • Large list of industry-specific integrations

Cons

  • No published prices
  • No free trial
  • In-app surveys only on the top plan
  • SSO costs extra

Who should use it

Franchises and multi-location service businesses that want NPS tied to individual staff and branches.

Who should skip it

Software companies focused on in-app NPS, and small teams that want to start for free.

Wootric review

Overview

Wootric was one of the early NPS microsurvey tools. InMoment announced it had acquired Wootric on January 6, 2021, and some Wootric help center articles call the product InMoment Microsurveys. It is still sold on wootric.com under the Wootric name, with three quote-only plans.

Key features

  • Channels. Web app, mobile app, email, link and Intercom Messenger on every plan, with SMS on Growth.
  • NPS, CSAT and CES. Professional covers one metric at one journey point; Growth covers three.
  • Segmentation. Segment by any business driver, with customer profiles and timelines.
  • Text analysis. Auto-categorized feedback themes on all plans, plus CXInsight text and sentiment analytics on Voice of the Customer.
  • Integrations. Professional triggers surveys via Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk and Mixpanel; Growth can trigger surveys from any integration partner. Partner logos on the pricing page include Salesforce, HubSpot, ServiceNow, Microsoft, Segment, Slack and Zapier.

Pricing

Wootric's pricing page lists Professional (1 journey point, up to 5 seats), Growth (3 journey points, up to 10 seats) and Voice of the Customer, but no prices. Every plan includes "unlimited responses from up to 25k customers," API access, data export, email alerts and SSO. No free trial is mentioned.

Pros

  • Unlimited responses within the customer limit
  • SSO and API on every plan
  • In-app, email, link and Intercom channels from the first plan

Cons

  • No published prices or trial
  • SMS needs Growth
  • Unclear long-term branding as part of InMoment

Who should use it

Product and CX teams that like the microsurvey approach, especially those already working with InMoment.

Who should skip it

Buyers who want to compare prices without a sales call.

Typeform review

Overview

Typeform is a form and survey builder, not a dedicated NPS platform. It has a Net Promoter Score question type that splits answers into promoters (9 or 10), passives (7 or 8) and detractors (6 or lower) and shows the score in the Results summary. If the NPS question is first, you can embed it in an email.

Key features

  • NPS question type with the score and group split in results.
  • Branching logic to ask different follow-ups by score, available even on the Free plan.
  • URL parameters and hidden fields to pass in customer data.
  • Integrations. HubSpot, Slack, Google Sheets, Zapier, Pipedrive and more; Salesforce from Business.
  • Design. One question at a time, with templates and custom branding.

Removing Typeform branding needs Plus. Typeform notes it sometimes experiments with pricing, so what you see in your account can differ.

Pros

  • Polished, branded NPS surveys
  • Logic and HubSpot on the Free plan
  • Clear monthly and yearly prices

Cons

  • No in-app targeting, survey throttling or NPS trend dashboards like dedicated tools
  • 10 responses a month on Free and 100 on Basic
  • Salesforce needs Business or higher

Who should use it

Teams that run an NPS survey a few times a year by email or link and care about how it looks.

Who should skip it

Anyone running continuous, triggered NPS with alerts and closed-loop follow-up.

SurveyMonkey review

Overview

SurveyMonkey is a general survey platform with an NPS template and a "built-in NPS calculator." Its research found that embedding the NPS question in the email invitation raised response rates by 22%. It fits teams that already use SurveyMonkey for many kinds of surveys and want NPS in the same place.

Key features

  • NPS template with automatic score calculation.
  • Embedded email question so customers can answer from the invitation.
  • Open-ended follow-ups such as "Why did you give the score above?"
  • SMS sending as a paid Enterprise add-on, to US, Canada, UK and Australia numbers through a Twilio sender line.
  • Full survey toolkit for research, employee and market surveys.

Pricing

  • Basic: free, 10 questions per survey, and only a limited number of responses viewable.
  • Standard Monthly: $149/month, 1,000 responses a month.
  • Advantage Annual: $39/month ($468/year), 15,000 responses a year.
  • Premier Annual: $139/month ($1,668/year), 40,000 responses a year.
  • Team Advantage: $30/user/month billed annually, 3-user minimum, 50,000 responses a year.
  • Team Premier: $92/user/month billed annually, 3-user minimum, 100,000 responses a year.
  • Enterprise: contact sales, 5+ users, with Salesforce, Marketo, Power BI and Tableau integrations, SSO and smart notifications.

Extra responses cost $0.15 each. Team plans include 200+ native integrations such as Slack and HubSpot. SMS sending is an Enterprise add-on bought separately; the help center says Twilio has to approve the sender, which can take two to three weeks.

Pros

  • One tool for NPS and every other survey type
  • Generous yearly response pools on annual plans
  • Familiar to respondents and staff

Cons

  • Salesforce integration is Enterprise only (HubSpot is on Team plans)
  • SMS is a paid Enterprise add-on
  • No in-app NPS targeting

Who should use it

Organizations that want NPS as one part of a wider survey program.

Who should skip it

Teams that need triggered in-app NPS or closed-loop workflows tied to a help desk.

Head-to-Head: Pricing Models Compared

The biggest difference between these tools is what they count.

  • Per response: Survicate, Simplesat, Typeform and SurveyMonkey. You pay for answers you receive. This is the easiest model to budget when you know your response rate.
  • Per survey sent: Retently counts survey credits. If your email response rate is 20%, 2,500 surveys on Ecommerce Basic yields roughly 500 responses.
  • Per monthly active user: Refiner includes unlimited responses but prices by MAU. It is good value if you survey a lot of your active users, but cost grows with your user base.
  • Per customer or journey point: Wootric includes unlimited responses from up to 25,000 customers and prices by journey points and seats.
  • Quote only: AskNicely and Wootric. AskNicely says price scales with response volume.

For a team that wants about 250 responses a month, published prices put Survicate Growth at $114/month billed annually and Simplesat Starter (300 responses) at $119/month billed annually. Typeform Plus gives 1,000 responses for $56/month billed yearly, but without NPS-specific targeting or dashboards.

Head-to-Head: In-App vs Email and SMS

In-app NPS reaches active users while they use your product. Refiner is the strongest fit here, with trait targeting (event targeting on Growth) and native SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter. Survicate covers in-product and mobile app surveys on its paid plans, and Wootric includes web and mobile app channels from its first plan. Retently offers in-app web pop-ups. AskNicely puts in-app on its top plan.

Email reaches customers who do not log in often, such as buyers of physical products or B2B decision makers. Survicate, Refiner, Typeform and SurveyMonkey can embed the first question in the email. Simplesat embeds surveys in help desk emails.

SMS matters for service businesses and consumers. AskNicely lists SMS and WhatsApp, Retently lists SMS, Wootric adds SMS on Growth, Simplesat sends SMS through Aircall and Twilio, and SurveyMonkey offers SMS as a paid Enterprise add-on.

Head-to-Head: Closing the Loop

The value of NPS comes from acting on detractors.

  • Simplesat puts feedback on the ticket, routes by score, brand or team, and sends Slack, Teams or email alerts.
  • Retently has automated workflows that create team tasks and AI routing that triggers follow-ups by sentiment and urgency.
  • AskNicely assigns feedback responses on Grow and adds frontline coaching and huddles on Transform.
  • Refiner triggers automations, updates user profiles and alerts your team, and pushes responses to your CRM on Growth.
  • Survicate relies on integrations: Slack alerts, HubSpot workflows and Intercom, rather than built-in case management.
  • Typeform and SurveyMonkey need integrations or manual work to close the loop.

Head-to-Head: Reporting and Segmentation

  • Refiner segments by user attributes and filters by date, segment, response value and tags, with AI tagging of comments.
  • Survicate targets surveys at customer segments, can filter results by CRM and marketing automation attributes on Pro and Enterprise, and shows a word cloud of common topics.
  • Simplesat segments by brand, region, tier, tag or team and adds automatic topic detection on Pro.
  • Retently adds company-level scores on B2B plans, useful when several people at one account answer.
  • Wootric segments by any business driver and auto-categorizes themes on every plan.

How to Choose

Start with where your customers are: in your app (Refiner, Survicate), in support (Simplesat), or in person at a service business (AskNicely, Retently for SMS). Then price your expected monthly volume on each tool's model. Finally, check the integrations you need on the plan you can afford. CRM sync is often a tier up: Survicate's Salesforce needs Pro, Refiner's CRM integrations need Growth, Simplesat's Salesforce needs Pro, Retently's Salesforce needs Enterprise, Typeform's Salesforce needs Business, and SurveyMonkey's Salesforce needs Enterprise.

Red flags

  • Metering that does not match your channel. Paying per survey sent hurts when your response rate is low.
  • Integrations on a higher tier than the core plan. Check that your CRM or help desk is on the plan you are pricing.
  • No export path. The Delighted sunset showed why you should be able to export all responses easily.
  • Hidden channel limits. SMS and in-app are often add-ons or top-tier features.
  • Quote-only pricing with no trial. It is not a deal breaker, but plan extra time to evaluate.

What to test before you commit

  1. Send a real NPS survey through your main channel and check the response rate.
  2. Set up a detractor alert to Slack or your help desk and see how fast it arrives.
  3. Push a response into your CRM and confirm it lands on the right contact or company.
  4. Build an NPS trend report filtered by one segment you care about, such as plan or region.
  5. Export all responses and check the file includes comments and customer fields.

The Verdict

Survicate is the best NPS software for most teams. It reaches customers by email, link, website, in-product and mobile app, it has a free plan to start, and its response-based prices are published. Its main gap is case management, which it handles through Slack, CRM and help desk integrations.

Choose Refiner for in-app NPS in a SaaS or mobile product, Simplesat for support teams, and Retently for a focused NPS, CSAT and CES platform. AskNicely suits frontline service teams and Wootric suits InMoment customers, both quote only. Typeform and SurveyMonkey work for occasional NPS alongside other surveys.

Conclusion

With Delighted retired, NPS buyers have to look again at what they need. Decide your channels first, then the pricing model that fits your volume, then confirm your CRM and help desk integrations sit on the plan you can afford. Test a real survey and the detractor follow-up path on a trial before you sign an annual contract.

Frequently asked questions

For most teams, Survicate. It sends NPS surveys by email, link, website, in-product and mobile app, has a free plan with 25 responses a month, and publishes prices from $56/month billed annually or $89/month on a monthly plan. Refiner is the better fit for in-app NPS in SaaS products, and Simplesat for support teams.
