Social listening tools collect public posts, articles, comments and reviews that mention your brand, your competitors or a topic, then sort them by sentiment, reach and volume so you can spot what is changing. The category runs from $29-a-month monitors to research platforms sold only after a sales demo.
This guide compares seven tools for brand monitoring, sentiment tracking, competitor tracking and crisis alerts: Brand24, Brandwatch, Talkwalker (now Lumen by Talkwalker), Sprout Social, Awario, BrandMentions and Mention. It is written for marketing teams, PR and communications teams, agencies that monitor several clients, and founders who want to know when people talk about their product.
Two of these tools have changed hands recently. Talkwalker is now owned by Hootsuite and sold as "Lumen by Talkwalker". Mention was bought by Agorapulse, no longer shows a price, and its free trial now starts an Agorapulse trial. Because Mention is no longer sold as a clear standalone plan, we added BrandMentions as a self-serve option with published prices.
What Matters When Choosing a Social Listening Tool
Most listening tools look similar in a demo. The differences show up in the plan limits. Check these six things:
- Mention volume limits. Most self-serve tools cap how many mentions they collect per month (for example 2,000, 30,000 or 1,000,000). A common brand name or a viral moment can use up a small allowance quickly, so check what happens at the cap.
- Keywords, topics and projects. Vendors count differently. Brand24 and BrandMentions count keywords, Awario counts topics with unlimited keywords inside each one, and Talkwalker counts topics, filters and channels. Competitor tracking needs at least one keyword or topic per competitor, so count your competitors before you pick a tier.
- Sources by plan. Facebook, Instagram, X, news and blogs are standard. LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, podcasts and review sites are often reserved for higher tiers. If your customers talk about you on TikTok or leave reviews on Google, Yelp or Trustpilot, check that your plan includes those sources.
- History. Some tools only collect mentions from the day you start. Others let you look back a month, a year or more. History matters for crisis analysis (what was the baseline before the spike?) and for competitor benchmarking. Several vendors limit history by plan or sell it as an add-on.
- Sentiment, spike alerts and AI. For crisis tracking you want automatic alerts when mention volume or negative sentiment jumps, not just a daily email. Check which plan includes spike detection.
- By quote or self-serve. Brand24, Awario and BrandMentions publish prices and offer free trials. Brandwatch, Talkwalker and Mention are sold by quote after a demo. Sprout Social publishes its base plans but not the price of its Listening add-on.
How We Compared
We compared each tool's plans, limits and documented features on the vendor's own website: pricing pages, feature pages, help center articles and official announcements, all checked on 17 October 2026. Where a vendor does not publish something (a price, a mention limit or how far history goes), we say so instead of using third-party estimates.
We did not run a hands-on test of these tools for this article. This is an editorial comparison of what each vendor sells and documents. All prices are in US dollars, before tax.
Comparison Table

| Awario | $29/month billed annually ($49 monthly) | No free plan; 7-day trial, no card | Budget brand monitoring for small teams | 30,000 mentions a month on the entry plan; Awario Leads |
| BrandMentions | $79/month billed annually ($99/month billed quarterly) | No free plan; 7-day trial | Affordable brand and review monitoring | Review sites on every plan; white-label reports on Expert |

Prices checked October 2026 on each vendor's pricing page. "By quote" means the vendor does not publish a price.
Brand24
Brand24 is an independent, self-serve listening tool. It says it monitors 25 million online sources in real time and supports 108 languages. Everything is priced per account, not per user, which keeps the bill flat as your team grows.
What it does well for brand monitoring
AI sentiment analysis is on every plan, so even the smallest account sorts mentions into positive, negative and neutral. From the Pro plan, Brand24 adds a full AI layer: AI Topics (the main themes in your mentions), AI Insights (suggestions for your brand), events detection (which explains what caused a spike in coverage) and an AI Brand Assistant you can question in plain language. Pro also adds an MCP server so AI assistants can read your live Brand24 data.
For crisis tracking, Brand24 lists Storm Alerts, custom email notifications, mobile push notifications and Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations among its reporting and alerting features. Combined with real-time updates on Pro, that is a practical early-warning setup. For competitor tracking, you add competitor names as keywords, and Brand24 offers source analysis from Team, plus a Presence Score that measures and benchmarks online popularity, influencer analysis and AVE (advertising value equivalency) for PR teams from Pro.
Source coverage depends on the plan, and this is the most important detail to get right:
- All plans: Facebook, Instagram, X, news, blogs and Reddit.
- From Team: LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Medium and Quora.
- From Pro: reviews, Twitch and newsletters.
- From Business: podcasts.
Pricing
No free plan. 14-day free trial, no credit card. Annual billing saves up to three months. Prices are per account:
- Individual: $199/month billed annually or $249 month to month. 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions a month, 1 user, updates every 12 hours.
- Team: $299/month billed annually or $349 monthly. 7 keywords, 10,000 mentions a month, unlimited users, hourly updates.
- Pro (most popular): $399/month billed annually or $499 monthly. 12 keywords, 40,000 mentions a month, unlimited users, real-time updates, events detection, AI Brand Assistant, AI Insights and AI Topics for 2 projects, MCP, white-label, PDF, Excel and PowerPoint reports.
- Business: $599/month billed annually or $699 monthly. 25 keywords, 100,000 mentions a month, AI Insights for 5 projects, unlimited AI Topics, podcasts, a Client Success Lead and quarterly business reviews.
- Enterprise: from $1,499/month billed annually. Custom keywords and mentions, unlimited AI Insights, API included and dedicated consulting.
API access costs an extra $149 on Pro and Business, is included on Enterprise and is not available on Individual or Team. Smart Context Search (from Pro) and an AI Visibility module (all paid plans) are add-ons. Brand24 offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, except on custom deals, and says it does not charge overage fees.
Pros
- Every price is public, with a 14-day no-card trial
- Unlimited users from the Team plan
- AI sentiment on all plans and a strong AI layer from Pro
- No overage charges
Cons
- Individual plan is limited: 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions, 12-hour updates, no LinkedIn, YouTube or TikTok
- Review sources need Pro; podcasts need Business
- PDF, Excel and white-label reports start at Pro
- History depth is not stated on the pricing page
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Choose Brand24 if you want serious listening without a sales process, especially a marketing team of several people (unlimited users from Team) or an agency that needs white-label reports (Pro). Skip it if you need years of archived data for research, or if you only need a few hundred mentions a month and want the lowest price, where Awario costs less.
Brandwatch
Brandwatch is one of the best-known enterprise listening and consumer research platforms. It is owned by Cision (the acquisition was announced in February 2021), and the site now uses "Brandwatch + Cision" branding. Brandwatch also sells social media management (formerly Falcon.io) and influencer marketing (formerly Paladin).
What it does well for brand monitoring
Brandwatch sells listening in two ways, and it is worth knowing the difference before you take a demo:
- Consumer Research is the research platform. Brandwatch says it searches over 100 million online sources and holds an archive of posts back to 2008. It includes the Iris AI assistant, image analysis trained on billions of images, custom classifiers you train yourself and the option to upload your own data, such as surveys, and analyse it alongside online conversations.
- Listen is a module inside the Brandwatch Social Media Management suite. Brandwatch lists 48 Boolean operators, a year of historical data, sentiment, automatic detection of spikes and drops, and links to the Engage inbox so your team can reply.
Brandwatch lists Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, Reddit and LinkedIn among its sources, plus forums, review sites, news and blogs. Its separate Reviews product is no longer available; review sites are analysed inside Consumer Research instead. Alerts, automated reports for stakeholders and custom dashboards cover crisis and executive reporting.
Pricing
Brandwatch publishes no prices. Its pricing page lists Consumer Intelligence, Social Media Management and Influencer Marketing, with "standard to enterprise plans available for each", and every option leads to a demo. There is no free plan and no self-serve free trial.
Pros
- Deepest history here: Consumer Research goes back to 2008
- Research-grade tools: image analysis, custom classifiers, own-data upload
- Part of a wider suite with social media management, influencer marketing and Cision PR tools
Cons
- No public pricing; every plan needs a sales demo
- No free plan or self-serve trial
- Two listening products with very different history (2008 archive or one year), so check which one you are quoted
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Choose Brandwatch if you are a large brand, an insights team or an agency doing research for big clients, and you need historical depth and custom analysis. Skip it if you mainly want alerts when your brand is mentioned, or if you need to see a price before talking to sales.
Talkwalker (Lumen by Talkwalker)
Talkwalker was acquired by Hootsuite (announced in April 2024). It is still sold on its own at talkwalker.com, now under the name "Lumen by Talkwalker". Talkwalker says it is the same data, reports, workflows and integrations under a new name. Hootsuite also sells it as Lumen, and Hootsuite's own listening has been renamed Lumen.
What it does well for brand monitoring
Coverage is the headline: Talkwalker's pricing page lists 150 million data sources, more than 30 social platforms, 187 languages and 196 countries, with non-sampled results. Every plan includes social listening and media monitoring, topic and channel analytics, custom dashboards, reports and alerts.
The AI tools are aimed at crisis and trend work. Wisdom does peak detection, forecasting and AI summaries. An AI Agent answers questions about your data. LLM Insights shows how AI assistants talk about your brand. Hootsuite also lists a Lumen MCP connector for AI assistants on its Enterprise plan.
Every plan includes unlimited users, onboarding, training and strategy reviews, which helps large teams.
Pricing
All plans are by custom quote after a demo. There is no free plan and no self-serve trial. The three plans are described only relative to each other:
- Core: listening and media monitoring, Wisdom, AI Agent, LLM Insights, IQ Apps, an "ideal volume" of non-sampled results and unlimited users.
- Analyze (most popular): everything in Core, plus twice the non-sampled results volume and 25 more topics, filters and channels.
- Business: everything in Analyze, plus six times the Core volume, three times more topics, filters and channels, additional historical data, more AI Agent questions and more workspaces, with enterprise governance.
Talkwalker does not publish absolute mention volumes, topic counts or history length. If you already use Hootsuite, note that only its Enterprise plan includes Lumen by Talkwalker, with 13 months of historical data, advanced data sources and alerts. The self-serve plans include basic listening: Quick Search over the last 7 days on Standard, and 30 days plus 90-day trend forecasting from Professional.
Pros
- Unlimited users on every plan, with onboarding and strategy reviews
- Very broad coverage: 150 million sources and 187 languages, non-sampled
- AI peak detection and forecasting, plus monitoring of AI assistant answers
- Pairs with Hootsuite for publishing and engagement
Cons
- No public prices; demo and quote needed for every plan
- Plan limits are only given as multiples (2x, 6x), not numbers
- Extra historical data only on the top Business plan
- The renaming (Talkwalker, Lumen by Talkwalker, Hootsuite Lumen) can confuse buyers
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Choose Talkwalker if you are a global brand or agency monitoring many markets and languages, if you want unlimited seats, or if your social team already lives in Hootsuite. Skip it if you need a published price or a free trial, or if a few thousand mentions a month will cover you.
Sprout Social
Sprout Social is a social media management suite best known for its inbox, publishing and reporting. Listening is a separate add-on, not part of the base plans.
What it does well for brand monitoring
Sprout's Listening add-on can be added to the Standard, Professional or Advanced plans (not the entry Essentials plan). According to Sprout, it includes a query builder that does not need Boolean knowledge, Smart Categories that surface influential topics, sentiment tracking and scoring, custom spike alerts on changes in volume or sentiment, machine-learning filters, competitor share of voice, audience demographics (age, gender, location and device), shareable external links and Trellis AI questions over your listening data. Sprout says historical data is pulled automatically when you create a listening topic, and how far back it goes depends on the data source.
The real advantage is the link to the rest of Sprout: a negative spike can turn into replies from the Smart Inbox, and Sprout's review management covers Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Trustpilot and Glassdoor from Standard. Even without the add-on, Standard and up include brand keyword monitoring in the inbox (10 brand keywords on Standard), which is enough for some small teams to catch direct brand mentions.
Sprout connects Instagram, X, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok, Threads, YouTube and Reddit for publishing and engagement on all plans.
Pricing
No free plan. 30-day free trial, no credit card. Prices are per seat:
- Essentials: $79/seat/month billed annually or $99 monthly. No inbox, no brand keywords, and no Listening add-on.
- Standard: $199/seat/month billed annually or $249 monthly. 5 social profiles, inbox, 10 brand keywords, review management.
- Professional: $299/seat/month billed annually or $399 monthly. Unlimited profiles, competitor reports, approval workflows.
- Advanced: $399/seat/month billed annually or $499 monthly. Adds spike alerts, sentiment, the Sprout API and CRM integrations.
- Enterprise: custom.
The Listening add-on is sold by demo and Sprout does not publish its price, so the real entry cost for listening in Sprout is at least one Standard seat ($199/month billed annually) plus an add-on price you only learn from sales.
Pros
- Listening sits next to an excellent inbox, publishing and reporting
- Query builder needs no Boolean skills
- Spike alerts and competitor share of voice in the add-on
- Base plan prices are public, with a 30-day no-card trial
Cons
- Listening is a paid add-on with no public price
- Not available on Essentials; Standard starts at $199 per seat per month billed annually
- Per-seat pricing adds up quickly for larger teams
- No published mention limits or history length for listening
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Choose Sprout Social if your team already uses Sprout (or is choosing a full social media management suite) and wants listening, engagement and reporting in one tool. Skip it if you only need listening; a standalone tool like Brand24 or Awario will cost far less and shows its price up front.
Awario
Awario is an independent, self-serve monitoring tool and the lowest-priced option in this guide. It says it crawls over 13 billion web pages daily, in addition to the platform APIs it uses.
What it does well for brand monitoring
Awario's allowances are generous. Even the Starter plan collects 30,000 new mentions a month, and every plan includes Boolean search, negative keywords and unlimited keywords inside each topic. Sentiment analysis, reach, share of voice and influencer identification cover the basics of brand and competitor tracking, and you can filter by any language and location.
Awario Leads is an unusual extra for a listening tool: a feed of posts where people ask for recommendations or complain about competitors, aimed at social selling.
Awario lists X, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube and Vimeo, plus blogs, forums, news and the wider web. We did not see TikTok or LinkedIn listed as sources on its pages, so check before you buy if either matters to you.
The limit to watch is stored history. Each topic stores a fixed number of mentions (5,000 on Starter, 15,000 on Pro, 50,000 on Enterprise). When a topic is full, the oldest mentions are replaced by new ones.
Pricing
No free plan. 7-day free trial with Starter features, no credit card. Yearly billing saves up to 40%. Prices are per account:
- Starter: $29/month billed annually or $49 monthly. 3 topics, 30,000 new mentions a month, 5,000 stored mentions per topic, 1 user. No data export or PDF reports.
- Pro: $89/month billed annually or $149 monthly. 15 topics, 300,000 new mentions a month, 15,000 stored mentions per topic, 10 users, CSV export and PDF reports.
- Enterprise: $249/month billed annually or $399 monthly. 100 topics, 1,000,000 new mentions a month, 50,000 stored mentions per topic, unlimited users, white-label reports, API and an account manager.
Custom plans are available on request. Awario does not refund partial periods.
Pros
- Lowest entry price here: $29/month billed annually
- Very high mention allowances, from 30,000 to 1,000,000 a month
- Boolean search and unlimited keywords per topic on every plan
- Built-in lead finding with Awario Leads
Cons
- Starter has no export or PDF reports and only 1 user
- Stored mentions are capped per topic, and old mentions are overwritten
- White-label reports and API only on Enterprise
- Short 7-day trial; TikTok not listed as a source
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Choose Awario if you are a small business, freelancer or budget-conscious agency that wants high-volume monitoring with Boolean search at a low price. The Pro plan at $89/month billed annually, with 10 users and 15 topics, is one of the best values in the category. Skip it if you need deep AI analysis, TikTok coverage or a long history of mentions for research.
BrandMentions
BrandMentions is an independent, self-serve web and social monitoring tool. We added it to this guide because Mention, which used to fill the "affordable self-serve monitor" slot, no longer sells a clear standalone plan with a published price.
What it does well for brand monitoring
Review monitoring is the standout. Every plan, including Starter, covers review sources such as Booking, Tripadvisor, Yelp, Google My Business and the App Store. For hotels, restaurants, apps and local businesses, that matters more than another social network. Brand24 only adds review sources from its Pro plan.
Social coverage grows with the plan: BrandMentions lists 7+ social networks on Starter and 10+ from Pro. Video platforms, communities, sites, blogs, news and forums are ticked on every plan. It does not name the individual networks on its pricing page, so ask before you buy if a specific platform such as TikTok matters to you.
AI sentiment is on every plan (multilingual from Pro), and there is an AI Assistant from Pro and an AI Brand Assistant on Expert. Agencies get projects per client, 100% white-label reports on Expert and full app white-label on custom Enterprise plans. History is the limit to check. The pricing table keeps your data for 3 months on Starter, 6 months on Pro and 12 months on Expert, with unlimited historical data only on Enterprise. (Elsewhere on the page BrandMentions mentions access to "up to 10 years" of history, so ask what your plan includes.)
Pricing
No free plan. 7-day free trial. Annual billing saves up to three months. Prices are per account:
- Starter: $79/month billed annually or $99/month billed quarterly. 5 keywords, 5,000 mentions a month, 3 projects, 1 user, 3 months of data retention, daily updates, basic AI sentiment.
- Pro: $249/month billed annually or $299 monthly. 20 keywords, 30,000 mentions a month, 10 projects, 2 users, 6 months of data retention, hourly updates, multilingual AI sentiment, AI Assistant.
- Expert (most popular): $399/month billed annually or $499 monthly. 50 keywords, 75,000 mentions a month, 50 projects, 10 users, 12 months of data retention, real-time updates, audience demographics, white-label reports, AI Brand Assistant, Boolean search.
- Enterprise: from $1,099/month billed annually or from $1,299 monthly. Custom keywords, mentions and users, API and Boolean, unlimited historical data, dedicated success manager.
BrandMentions says it does not charge overage fees, and you can cancel any time.
Pros
- Public prices from $79/month billed annually
- Review sites included on every plan
- Agency-friendly: projects per client, white-label reports on Expert
- No overage charges
Cons
- Starter has 1 user and daily updates only, and no Boolean search
- Boolean search starts at Expert ($399/month billed annually)
- API only on Enterprise
- Social networks per plan are not named on the pricing page
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Choose BrandMentions if reviews are a big part of your reputation, or if you are an agency that wants white-label reports and many keywords on one account. Skip it if you need real-time alerts on a small budget (real-time starts at Expert), or if your team is larger than 2 people but you do not need Expert's limits, where Brand24 Team (unlimited users) fits better.
Mention
Agorapulse acquired Mention and announced "Mention by Agorapulse" in May 2025. The mention.com site still exists and existing customers still log in, but in practice it is no longer sold as a standalone self-serve product.
What it does well for brand monitoring
Mention tracks Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube, plus news, blogs and forums, and says it covers more than 1 billion sources. Review monitoring covers more than 75 review sites, including Google, Facebook, Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor. Advanced Alerts accept Boolean queries of up to 2,000 characters, and a simpler query builder (Standard Alert) is available for non-experts.
For analysis, Mention lists sentiment, share of voice, competitor benchmarking and influence scoring, with custom reports and dashboards (10+ templates), white-label reporting and Slack and Zapier integrations. Its own Publish and Respond features were retired, so replying and publishing now happen in Agorapulse.
Pricing
Mention's pricing page shows a single Company plan with the price left blank ("Starting at $ ... per month"). It says paying yearly gets you two months free, but without a base price, treat it as by quote. Historical data and API access are not included and are sold as paid add-ons. The "Get a demo" button goes to Agorapulse, and "Start a free trial" goes to a 30-day Agorapulse trial (no credit card) that says Mention monitoring is built into it. Inside Agorapulse, listening is sold as an "Advanced Listening" add-on, priced by demo.
Pros
- Broad sources, including 75+ review sites and TikTok
- Long Boolean queries (up to 2,000 characters)
- Now backed by Agorapulse for publishing and inbox
Cons
- No published price and no standalone self-serve plan
- Historical data and API cost extra
- Publishing and replying moved to Agorapulse
- The free trial is an Agorapulse trial, not a Mention trial
Who should use it, and who should skip it
Choose Mention if you already use Agorapulse, or plan to, and want web, social and review monitoring inside the same vendor. Ask Agorapulse sales for the Advanced Listening price and what history is included. Skip it if you want a standalone monitor you can buy today at a known price: Brand24, Awario and BrandMentions all publish theirs.
Which Sources Each Tool Covers
Here is what each vendor documents about sources and history. "Not listed" means we did not see it on the vendor's pages, not that it is definitely missing.
| Tool | YouTube | TikTok | Review sites | History | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brand24 | From Team | From Team | From Team | From Pro | Not stated on pricing page |
| Brandwatch | Yes | Yes | Not listed | Yes (in Consumer Research) | Back to 2008 (Consumer Research); one year (Listen) |
| Talkwalker | 30+ platforms (not itemised) | 30+ platforms | 30+ platforms | Yes | Extra history on Business; not quantified |
| Sprout Social Listening | Not published | Not published | Not published | Review management in base plans from Standard | Depends on data source |
| Awario | Not listed | Yes | Not listed | Not listed | Capped at 5,000 to 50,000 stored mentions per topic |
| BrandMentions | Not itemised | Video platforms on every plan | Not itemised | Every plan | Data kept 3, 6 or 12 months by plan; unlimited on Enterprise |
| Mention | Not listed | Yes | Yes | 75+ review sites | Paid add-on |
Sprout Social supports LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok for publishing and engagement on all plans, but it does not publish a source list for the Listening add-on, so confirm listening sources in your demo.
What It Costs: Three Realistic Examples
These examples use only published list prices from October 2026. By-quote tools (Brandwatch, Talkwalker, Mention and the Sprout Listening add-on) cannot be priced here.
A founder tracking one brand and two competitors
You need 3 keywords or topics, one user and basic sentiment.
- Awario Starter: $29 x 12 = $348 a year (or $49 x 12 = $588 paying monthly). 3 topics, 30,000 mentions a month.
- BrandMentions Starter: $79 x 12 = $948 a year. 5 keywords, 5,000 mentions a month, review sites included, daily updates.
- Brand24 Individual: $199 x 12 = $2,388 a year. 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions a month, 12-hour updates, AI sentiment.
Awario is the clear budget winner. BrandMentions makes sense if reviews matter to you.
A 5-person marketing team that needs LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok and fast alerts
You need about 7 keywords (brand, products and competitors), 5 users and hourly or real-time updates.
- Brand24 Team: $299 x 12 = $3,588 a year. 7 keywords, 10,000 mentions a month, unlimited users, hourly updates, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok.
- Brand24 Pro: $399 x 12 = $4,788 a year, if you also want real-time updates, events detection and review sources.
- Awario Pro: $89 x 12 = $1,068 a year. 15 topics, 300,000 mentions a month, 10 users, but TikTok is not listed.
- BrandMentions Expert: $399 x 12 = $4,788 a year. Its Pro plan has only 2 users, so a 5-person team needs Expert (10 users).
- Sprout Social Standard, 5 seats: $199 x 5 x 12 = $11,940 a year before the Listening add-on, whose price is not published.
Brand24 Team covers this team for under $300 a month. Sprout only makes sense if you are buying it for publishing and customer care anyway.
An agency monitoring clients with white-label reports and review sites
You need white-label reports, review monitoring and several users.
- Brand24 Pro: $399 x 12 = $4,788 a year. 12 keywords, 40,000 mentions, white-label reports, reviews.
- BrandMentions Expert: $399 x 12 = $4,788 a year. 50 keywords, 75,000 mentions, 10 users, white-label reports, reviews on every plan.
- Awario Enterprise: $249 x 12 = $2,988 a year. 100 topics, 1,000,000 mentions, unlimited users, white-label reports and API, but review sites are not listed.
At the same price, BrandMentions Expert gives more keywords and mentions, while Brand24 Pro gives unlimited users and the stronger AI layer.
How to Choose
- You want the best all-round tool with a public price: Brand24. Start on Team for unlimited users and LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok, or Pro if you need real-time updates and spike detection.
- You are on a tight budget: Awario. $29/month billed annually gets you 30,000 mentions and Boolean search.
- Reviews drive your reputation (hotels, restaurants, apps, local business): BrandMentions, which includes review sites on every plan, or Brand24 Pro.
- You need years of history or research-grade analysis: Brandwatch Consumer Research, with its archive back to 2008.
- You monitor many countries and languages and want unlimited seats: Talkwalker (Lumen by Talkwalker). If you already use Hootsuite, ask about Lumen through Hootsuite too.
- You already use Sprout Social for publishing and care: add Sprout's Listening to keep everything in one place, but get the add-on price before you commit.
- You already use Agorapulse: Mention is now part of Agorapulse, so ask about Advanced Listening there.
Before you buy, run your real brand and competitor names through a free trial and check a normal week's mention volume. That tells you which plan you need.
Final Verdict
Brand24 is our top pick for brand monitoring, sentiment, competitor and crisis tracking. It is the only tool here that combines published prices, a no-card trial, unlimited users from its second tier, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube from that same tier, and a real AI layer with spike explanation from Pro. Its weak spots are the thin entry plan and an unstated history depth, so most teams should budget for Team or Pro.
Awario is the best budget tool, and BrandMentions is the best for review-heavy brands and agencies on a self-serve budget. Brandwatch and Talkwalker are the enterprise choices: Brandwatch for history and research depth, Talkwalker for global coverage and unlimited seats. Sprout Social and Mention make most sense as add-ons to tools you already use, Sprout Social and Agorapulse respectively.
Prices and plans change often. Check the vendor's pricing page before you buy.
