"Salesforce or HubSpot?" is one of the most common CRM questions, and the answer depends less on features than on how much setup your team can handle and pay for. This page compares the two on the things that drive the decision: what each edition costs and what it unlocks, required fees, what 5, 20 and 50 users really pay per year, contract terms, data model, automation, forecasting, AI, ecosystem and admin effort. At the end are four alternatives (Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Freshsales and Close) for teams that decide neither fits.
One naming note first. Salesforce now sells Sales Cloud as Agentforce Sales. If you are searching for "Salesforce Sales Cloud pricing," Agentforce Sales is the same product: the same CRM, the same Starter Suite and Pro Suite, and since September 2026 a new set of upper editions called Core, Advanced and Max. On the HubSpot side, the product we compare is Sales Hub, whose free tier is the free HubSpot CRM. All prices below are USD list prices taken from each vendor's pricing pages in October 2026.
Comparison Table
| Tool | Starting price | Free plan / trial | Best for | Standout feature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agentforce Sales (Salesforce) | $25/user/month (Starter Suite, billed monthly or annually) | Free Suite for 2 users; 30-day trial | Complex sales orgs with admin resources | Deepest customization and data model |
| HubSpot Sales Hub | $7/seat/month billed annually (Starter, limited-time new-customer offer) | Free CRM for up to 2 users | SMB and mid-market teams wanting fast adoption | Sales and marketing on one platform |
| Pipedrive | $14/seat/month billed annually | 14-day trial, no card | Small teams wanting a visual pipeline | Easy pipeline-first interface |
| Zoho CRM | $14/user/month billed annually | Free edition for 3 users | Budget-conscious teams needing customization | Custom modules from Standard |
| Freshsales | $9/user/month billed annually | 21-day trial | SMBs wanting sequences at low cost | Sequences from the Pro plan |
| Close | $9/user/month billed annually (Solo, 1 user) | Free trial, no card | Inside sales teams that call a lot | Built-in calling and dialers |
Edition by Edition: How the Plans Map
The two vendors do not line up neatly, so it helps to place the editions side by side by what they unlock rather than by name.

|---|---|---|
| Free | Free Suite: $0, 2 user licenses, up to 100 emails per month | Free CRM: $0, up to 2 users |

| Mid | Pro Suite: $100/user/month, billed annually | Professional: $90/seat/month billed annually, $100 billed monthly, plus $1,500 onboarding |
| Upper | Core: $195/user/month, billed annually | Enterprise: $150/seat/month, plus $3,500 onboarding |
| Top | Advanced: $395; Max: $550 (per user/month, billed annually) | No higher Sales Hub edition |
Salesforce editions in detail
- Free Suite ($0). Two user licenses, lead, opportunity and case management, simple email marketing (up to 100 emails a month) and Slack. No contract or credit card. It is a way to try Salesforce, not to run a team.
- Starter Suite ($25/user/month, billed monthly or annually). Lead, account, contact and opportunity management, built-in sales flows and lead routing, activity capture that syncs email and calendar, email marketing and the mobile app. No quotes, no Flow Builder, no API access and no AppExchange in the comparison table. Salesforce offers a 30-day free trial of Starter Suite for up to 10 users.
- Pro Suite ($100/user/month, billed annually). Adds quotes, contracts, orders, the forecasting mobile app, Lightning App Builder, AppExchange and AgentExchange access, unlimited custom apps and a Developer sandbox. Two limits matter: Flow Builder is capped at 5 flows per org, and the Web Services API costs an additional $25 per user per month. Premier Success is an add-on.
- Core ($195/user/month, billed annually). Salesforce describes it as everything in Professional Edition plus Momentum and Premier Success. The comparison table adds advanced forecasting and pipeline management, pipeline inspection, opportunity splits, sales territories, approval processes, full Flow Builder, the API, one Partial sandbox, conversation intelligence, opportunity scoring, Agentforce Sales Emails, Slack Business+, Tableau Next and 500K Flex Credits per org per year.
- Advanced ($395/user/month, billed annually). Adds enhanced security (Security Center, Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect), Sales Programs, Agentforce Account Research, lead scoring, predictive forecasting, one Full sandbox, 1 GB of data storage per user and 1M Flex Credits per org per year.
- Max ($550/user/month, billed annually; "Contact us"). Adds the full Agentforce for Sales set and Agentforce Coworker, Salesforce Spiff, Sales Planning, Salesforce Maps, Slack Enterprise+ and 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year.
Core, Advanced and Max were announced in September 2026 and replace the old Enterprise, Unlimited and Agentforce 1 editions. If you are reading an older comparison that quotes Enterprise or Unlimited prices, those editions are no longer what Salesforce lists for new buyers.
HubSpot editions in detail
- Free CRM ($0, up to 2 users). HubSpot's free CRM and free sales tools. No credit card required.
- Starter ($7/seat/month paid annually or $10 month-to-month, a limited-time new-customer offer; regular price $20/seat/month). Includes 1 Core Seat, 500 HubSpot Credits per month, 15 pipelines, 50 workflows with limited functionality, 30 dashboards, 500 calling minutes a month, the Breeze Assistant and the Prospecting agent. HubSpot's product catalog lists sequences, lead scoring, custom reporting and forecasting as not included on Starter.
- Professional ($90/seat/month billed annually, $100 billed monthly, plus a required $1,500 one-time onboarding). Priced per Sales Seat. Adds sequences (500 email sends per user per day), 300 workflows, automatic lead rotation, 100 custom reports, forecasting (limited functionality), lead scoring (5 scores), conversation intelligence (limited), quotes and e-signature, 3,000 calling minutes, 100 pipelines, teams, duplicate management, the Salesforce integration and 3,000 HubSpot Credits per month.
- Enterprise ($150/seat/month, billed annually, plus a required $3,500 one-time onboarding). Adds custom objects (10 definitions, 1 million records), a standard sandbox, full forecasting, deal approvals and deal splits, field-level permissions, customizable permission sets, 1,000 workflows, 500 custom reports, full conversation intelligence, 12,000 calling minutes and 5,000 credits per month.
HubSpot also sells Core Seats for people who need the CRM but not the seller tools: $50 per month on Professional and $75 per month on Enterprise, according to HubSpot's product catalog (which lists monthly prices). Sales managers who only review dashboards, or operations staff, can sit on Core Seats, and View-Only Seats are free. The Agentforce Sales pricing page does not list a cheaper non-seller seat.
Required Fees, Onboarding and Implementation
This is where the two differ most in how they publish costs.
HubSpot prints its required fees: $1,500 one-time onboarding for Professional and $3,500 for Enterprise. Starter has no required onboarding. The onboarding is delivered remotely by a HubSpot onboarding specialist. HubSpot also lists Customer Platform onboarding packages for companies buying several hubs.
Salesforce does not publish an implementation fee. The pricing page says to contact sales about upfront costs and points buyers to Salesforce Professional Services and certified partners for implementation. Larger Salesforce rollouts are often done with a consulting partner, priced per project, so ask for a scoped estimate before you sign. One cost Salesforce does publish: the Premier Success Plan costs 30% of net license fees on editions where it is an add-on (Pro Suite), and it is included in Core, Advanced and Max.
Contract Terms
HubSpot. According to HubSpot's knowledge base, Starter can be a monthly or annual commitment, while Professional and Enterprise must be an annual commitment. You can pay monthly, quarterly or annually depending on the tier, but paying monthly on Professional does not shorten the 12-month commitment. HubSpot states you cannot cancel before the end of your current term; to leave, you turn off auto-renewal before the renewal date. Using fewer seats does not automatically downgrade your account.
Salesforce. Starter Suite is billed monthly or annually. Pro Suite, Core, Advanced and Max are listed as billed annually. Salesforce's pricing FAQ says that most Salesforce products use annual contracts but that subscription terms vary, and it directs buyers to a sales representative for payment and billing options.
Both vendors work on annual commitments at the tiers mid-sized teams buy. The practical difference is that HubSpot Starter is the only paid tier in this comparison you can run month to month with a published price ($10 per seat on the current new-customer offer, $20 at the regular price), and Salesforce Starter Suite is the only Salesforce tier that offers monthly billing.
What 5, 20 and 50 Users Really Pay
These examples use list prices and the edition each team realistically needs. They exclude taxes, add-ons, extra credits and partner fees, and they assume all users are full sales seats. Neither vendor publishes volume or multi-year discounts, so ask for them.
5 users: a small B2B team
The team needs sequences, a forecast and a few automations.
- HubSpot Sales Hub Professional: $90 x 5 seats x 12 months = $5,400, plus $1,500 onboarding = $6,900 in year one, $5,400 after.
- Salesforce Pro Suite: $100 x 5 x 12 = $6,000 a year. If you need the API (for example to sync a billing or product database), add $25 x 5 x 12 = $1,500, for $7,500. Pro Suite's 5-flow cap is the limit to watch.
- Salesforce Core: $195 x 5 x 12 = $11,700 a year, if you need full Flow Builder and advanced forecasting.
If the team only needs a shared pipeline and email tracking, HubSpot Starter at the promotional $7 rate is $7 x 5 x 12 = $420 a year, $10 x 5 x 12 = $600 a year month-to-month, or $20 x 5 x 12 = $1,200 a year at the regular price. Note that Starter does not include sequences.
20 users: a growing sales team with a manager and ops support
The team needs sequences, forecasting, lead routing, more automation and reports by team.
- HubSpot Sales Hub Professional: $90 x 20 x 12 = $21,600, plus $1,500 onboarding = $23,100 in year one.
- Salesforce Core: $195 x 20 x 12 = $46,800 a year, before any implementation partner.
- Salesforce Pro Suite with API: ($100 + $25) x 20 x 12 = $30,000 a year, but with only 5 flows per org, most 20-seat teams with real automation needs will outgrow it.
50 users: a multi-team sales org
The team needs territories or team hierarchies, approvals, custom objects and a sandbox.
- HubSpot Sales Hub Enterprise: $150 x 50 x 12 = $90,000, plus $3,500 onboarding = $93,500 in year one.
- Salesforce Core: $195 x 50 x 12 = $117,000 a year. Core includes one Partial sandbox.
- Salesforce Advanced: $395 x 50 x 12 = $237,000 a year, if you need predictive forecasting, lead scoring, a Full sandbox and the security tools.
At 50 users, HubSpot Enterprise costs $23,500 less per year than Salesforce Core in seat fees alone, and its onboarding fee is fixed and published, while Salesforce implementation is quoted separately. Salesforce Core does include Premier Success, Slack Business+ and Tableau Next, which HubSpot does not match one for one.
Customization and Data Model
Salesforce is the more flexible platform. Record types, customizable profiles and page layouts, and roles and permissions are on every edition. Lightning App Builder, unlimited custom apps and AppExchange start on Pro Suite. From Core you add sales territories, opportunity splits, sales teams, approval processes and the Lightning Platform. Person Accounts (for selling to individuals) start on Pro Suite. If your business has unusual records (installed equipment, policies, contracts with many line items) and complex relationships between them, Salesforce models it without workarounds.
HubSpot keeps its data model simpler. Every paid tier gets up to 1,000 custom properties per object. Professional adds the data model builder, association labels, calculated properties and duplicate management. Custom objects require Enterprise (10 definitions and 1 million records), and so do field-level permissions. For many teams the standard objects (contacts, companies, deals, tickets, products, quotes) are enough. If you already know you need several custom objects, price HubSpot Enterprise against Salesforce Core, not Professional.
Automation
Salesforce Flow Builder is the main automation tool. It is not in Free Suite or Starter Suite, Pro Suite is capped at 5 flows per org, and Core and above have full Flow Builder plus approval processes. Flow Orchestration (for multi-step, multi-user processes) is an add-on on every edition. Flow is powerful but it is closer to a visual programming tool: someone has to design, test and maintain the flows, ideally in a sandbox first.
HubSpot workflows are easier for a non-technical admin to build. Starter gets 50 workflows with limited functionality, Professional 300 with automatic lead rotation and workflow extensions, and Enterprise 1,000. Sequences (timed email and task cadences for reps) start on Professional with 500 email sends per user per day, and Enterprise allows 1,000. HubSpot does not have Salesforce-style approval processes below Enterprise, which adds deal approvals.
Reporting and Forecasting
Salesforce has customizable reports and dashboards on every edition, including Free Suite. Pro Suite adds forecasting and the forecasting mobile app. Core is where the forecasting most sales leaders want appears: advanced forecast and pipeline management, pipeline inspection, embedded forecast charts, waterfall charts, consumption forecasting and opportunity splits. Predictive forecasting is an add-on on Core and included on Advanced and Max. Core also includes Tableau Next.
HubSpot gives Starter 30 dashboards with standard reports but no custom report builder. Professional adds 100 custom reports, revenue analytics and forecasting with limited functionality. Enterprise adds 500 custom reports, full forecasting, deal journeys and goals with custom targets. For a single sales team with one pipeline, Professional forecasting is usually enough. For multi-team roll-ups, opportunity splits or territory forecasts, Salesforce Core or HubSpot Enterprise is the floor.
AI Features: Agentforce vs HubSpot Breeze
Both vendors now meter AI with credits, so the edition you buy decides both which AI features you get and how much use is included.
Salesforce Agentforce
According to the Agentforce Sales pricing page, AI can be added to Core and above, and the Agentforce features in the comparison table are not available on Free Suite, Starter Suite or Pro Suite.
- Core includes Agentforce Sales Emails, conversation intelligence, opportunity scoring, deal insights, the sales workspace and 500K Flex Credits per org per year. Lead Nurture, Pipeline Management, Prospecting, Sales Signals, call summaries, lead scoring and predictive forecasting are available for purchase.
- Advanced adds Agentforce Account Research, lead scoring and predictive forecasting, with 1M Flex Credits per org per year.
- Max includes the full Agentforce for Sales set (Lead Nurture, Pipeline Management, Prospecting, employee agent sales actions) and Agentforce Coworker, with 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year.
- The Agentforce for Sales add-on is listed from $125 per user per month.
HubSpot Breeze
HubSpot's product catalog lists these Breeze features by Sales Hub edition:
- Breeze Assistant on Starter, Professional and Enterprise.
- Prospecting agent on Starter and above; it uses 100 HubSpot Credits per lead it researches and recommends outreach for.
- Data agent with limited functionality on Starter and full functionality on Professional and Enterprise; 10 credits per prompt per record.
- Customer agent on Professional and Enterprise.
- Deal summaries, deal plans and guided actions (Beta) on Professional and Enterprise.
- Included credits: 500 per month on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. Extra credits cost $0.010 each, or $10 per pack of 1,000 credits per month.
To put the credits in context: Professional's 3,000 included credits cover about 30 Prospecting agent lead recommendations a month at 100 credits each, before any other AI use. Teams that plan to run the agents at volume should budget for credit packs.
Bottom line on AI: HubSpot puts AI features into its lower tiers, starting at Starter. Salesforce reserves Agentforce for Core and above, but Core already includes conversation intelligence and opportunity scoring, which HubSpot limits on Professional and fully includes on Enterprise.
Ecosystem and Integrations
Salesforce has the larger ecosystem: AppExchange and AgentExchange (from Pro Suite), MuleSoft for integrating on-premises or legacy systems, and a large network of certified consulting partners. The API is included from Core and costs $25 per user per month on Pro Suite. If your company already runs Slack, Tableau or other Salesforce clouds (Service, Marketing), Agentforce Sales fits into that stack.
HubSpot has the HubSpot Marketplace and its own hubs (Marketing, Service, Content, Data and Revenue Hub) on one CRM, which is its main advantage: marketing and sales share one database and one set of reports without an integration. Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise include a native Salesforce integration, which some companies use to run HubSpot for marketing alongside Salesforce for sales.
Admin Effort and Time to Value
HubSpot is designed so that a sales manager or marketing operations person can administer it. Required onboarding on Professional and Enterprise gives you a HubSpot specialist for setup. Many small teams run it without a dedicated admin.
Salesforce rewards investment. The same flexibility that makes it the stronger platform for complex processes means more decisions to make: objects, profiles and permission sets, flows, page layouts, sandboxes and release testing. At Core and above, plan for a part-time or full-time admin, or a partner on retainer. Budget for that time, not just the license.
Who Should Pick Which
Choose HubSpot Sales Hub if:
- You have up to roughly 50 sellers and a fairly standard B2B pipeline.
- You want marketing automation and sales on one database (with Marketing Hub).
- You do not have a dedicated CRM admin and do not plan to hire one.
- You want published, predictable pricing including onboarding.
Choose Salesforce (Agentforce Sales) if:
- You need custom objects, territories, opportunity splits or approval processes, and you need them at the edition you can afford (Core starts at $195).
- You have a CRM admin or budget for an implementation partner.
- You need multiple sandboxes and controlled releases.
- Your company already runs other Salesforce products or Slack Enterprise.
When to Switch
From HubSpot to Salesforce when you find yourself paying for HubSpot Enterprise mainly for custom objects and still building workarounds, when forecasting needs splits and territories across many teams, or when integrations with ERP or legacy systems need middleware.
From Salesforce to HubSpot when you are paying for Core or above but use little beyond contacts, opportunities and email, when you have lost your admin and nobody maintains the flows, or when marketing already lives in HubSpot and the integration is causing duplicate records.
Before switching either way, check when your annual term ends: both vendors bill on annual commitments at these tiers, and HubSpot states you cannot cancel mid-term.
Pipedrive
Pipedrive is a pipeline-first CRM for small teams that want to see deals as cards on a board and move fast without an admin.

Zoho CRM
Zoho CRM offers a lot of customization for the price and a free edition for three users.

Key gates: Solo and Essentials do not include workflows. Growth adds automated workflows, the power dialer, custom activities and bulk email. Scale adds the predictive dialer, role-based permissions, lead visibility rules and live call coaching. Every plan includes Close's AI assistant, Chloe, with monthly AI credits.
Who should use it: high-activity outbound and inside sales teams. Who should skip it: field sales teams or companies that need marketing automation and service in one platform.
How to Choose
- List the objects you need. If standard contacts, companies and deals cover your business, HubSpot Professional or one of the alternatives is enough. If you need several custom objects, compare HubSpot Enterprise with Salesforce Core.
- Count your automations. Salesforce Pro Suite allows 5 flows per org. HubSpot Starter allows 50 limited workflows, Professional 300. If you need sequences, HubSpot requires Professional.
- Decide who runs the CRM. No admin points to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Freshsales or Close. A dedicated admin or partner makes Salesforce realistic.
- Price year one, not month one. Add HubSpot's onboarding fee, Salesforce's API add-on on Pro Suite, any implementation partner, and AI credits.
- Check the commitment. Both vendors use annual terms at mid and upper tiers.
- Trial with real data. Salesforce offers 30-day trials; HubSpot's free CRM costs nothing for up to 2 users, so you can test the basics before paying.
Final Recommendations
- Most small and mid-sized B2B teams: HubSpot Sales Hub Professional. Fixed, published costs and a short ramp to adoption.
- Complex, multi-team sales orgs with admin resources: Salesforce Agentforce Sales Core, moving to Advanced if you need predictive forecasting, a Full sandbox and the security tools.
- Teams that want AI agents on a budget: HubSpot, since Breeze features start on Starter, but budget for credits.
- Teams that want neither: Pipedrive for ease of use, Zoho CRM for customization at a low price, Freshsales for low-cost sequences, Close for phone-heavy inside sales.
